Hi,
In the Dark Eye fantasy RPG goblins are covered with not too dense red hair/fur (imagelink).
Any idea, which product could create that skin look? Maybe Lookatmyhair?
As it is quite expensive to me, I would rather be sure if there isn't any alternative...
Thankyou!

Lookatmyhair is an old product meant to be rendered with 3DL.
Maybe look at creatures with dForce fur and tweaking the parameters.
You can create strand based hair yourself with DS.
Thankyou @PerttiA! Generally, 3DL hair wasn't that bad on iray in my experience, and the promo Images looked impressive to me. I will give the creature fur idea a try...
That one opened up a complete new world to me, thankyou @scorpio!
would this do anything like you're looking for?

Thanks, but unfortunately it is too dense...
There are several creatures that are based on Genesis 3, 8 or 8.1 Male that come with fur - in some cases the fur may work with other shapes so something to explore!

Realized this also after I had made my post.
The interface is pretty straight forward, attached my very own first hair.
I read in the forum, that catalyzer doesn't work with hair created by users of LAMH, so I was thinking of using iray hair shaders like iraypair of OOT with LAMH...
Up to now selfmade strandbased hair looks very promising though, I just need to get a better, more random looking distribution...
Yes, selfmade strandbased hair it is going to be... Thankyou @Silas3D and again @PerttiA! Thanks everybody, thats was awesome!
LAMH hair is not like regular 3DL hair, it is generated on the fly by the LAMH plugin. It just won't appear at all in Iray.
To render hair you created yourself with LAMH in Iray you have to do it indirectly: once your hair is created you export it as obj, then import that obj and use it instead of the LAMH hair to render with Iray.
Thankyou @Leana, that is good to know.
