How do I find Genesis 1?

A long time ago I purchased a lot of Genesis 1 characters that I completely forgot about. A lot of them do not show up in my smart content tab but I know that I bought them and if I go to the ones that I remember, I am able to find them. How do I find all of them besides trying to remember?

  • If you go into the Content Library,  Open the People/Genesis folder and then look under clothing. Daz3d content has been placed there since the Genesis 1 release.

Freebies and content from other stores, that's a different crapshoot.

I'm talking about characters. I bought a frankenstein monster, a werewolf monster, etc. They are in the product listings but not in the Genesis folder. How do I find the other G1 characters if they are not in the folder that you mentioned and are not coming up the the smart content.

Under DAZ Studio Formats, People->Genesis->Genesis Races maybe?

With Genesis the structure of the folders and where the stuff was stored, was not yet that unified and sometimes the stuff can be found in places you wouldn't think about today.

  • What you might want to do,  and it is certainly a bit of leg work on your part, go into your product library and manually download the product files in zip format.  You can then look through the zip content to see the file structure. You can then navigate to that location inside you Conent Library. You might these characters inside the PArtist's folders.

Or just go into DIM and look at the file list for the installed product.

Many of the Genesis characters don't have presets, only a slider or two for the figure/head/body in the Parameters & Shaping tabs, and maybe a texture set.

Some of them may be in Presets/Characters, especially early ones by RawArt. I ussually move them from there to my People/Genesis/Characters folder and create a Creatures or Monsters folder.

  • Thank you

If I cannot find something I go to the readme. Or I look into the zip (I do the manual installation)

I use the browser addon, so there is a link to the readme on the product page

but you can find the readme here too with the SKU
