Laser Sword and Poses

If anyone has this, are the blades able to be reshaped from having a sharp tip to a rounded one?
I'm thinking that, if so, by placing the white blade inside a coloured one and reducing the opacity of the latter, this would be ideal for modifying into 'Star Wars'-related fandom art.

These look so cool. Would love to buy, but I'm sort of tapped from March Madness. I'm hoping a little post work will make the blades look more like light and less like plastic.
My guess is that these shaders might help with the material-versus-hologram thing:

Just need to know if the tips can be rounded! Like, even if they can't be morphed, could the blade sections be turned around and placed on the handles the opposite way around?
I do actually have a use for sharp blades in this style, but it seems a pity if the blades can't be rounded, because the hilt section seems so clearly in line with the 'Star Wars' hardware aesthetics.
I can't tell from the images what type of tip they have, but they look tubular to me. Because of how simple they are though, postwork could probably make them more rounded.
Hey there, to avoid a direct SW knock off, I made them be rectangular. However, I do have a freebie addon that will be uploaded later that will change them into Lightsabers. Rounded blade included.
Thank you very much!
Oh, intriguing... Will that install through the DIM or will it have manual installation instructions included?
RIght here
LIGHTSABERS - freebie addon for Laser Swords and Poses

Where would that file need to be put, directory-wise?
Using 7zip, decompress the file into the folder that contains your DAZ Content.
It should then unpack into the exact same folder structure that Laser Swords and Poses uses so that they addons appear right in the same props folder with the product
I like it! My quick little Iray render...
Looks good.
I have some trouble with the swords and poses...
When adding a prop (sword or staff), it appears right between the feet of the figure. Applying a pose puts it somewhere in midair.
I managed to get a proper pose by adding a sword and applying a pose to that sword, while having the figure still in default pose (vitruvian man). Then I tied ("parent") the sword to the figure, before choosing a (full body/combat) pose - And even following these steps, the sword sometimes doesn't change position when changing poses (it stays midair beside the figure).
And I'm not able to apply any color/lighting to the blades. When selecting the blades I can dial the shaders, but neither doubleclick, nor drag&drop; does anything.
Maybe it's just me. I'm new to DAZ Studio. And though I like the "smart content" tab, it's sometimes not very smart...
mbarch, its not just you. I got the poses to work once but I can't remember what I did.
I don't have the product (yet!), but if the blades are colored by shaders you'll need to select the blade's surface in the Surfaces/Edit tab before applying the shader. The easiest way might be to use the surface selection tool and just click the blade, but if it has two surfaces (like a core, and and an outer surface around it) you'll need to select the inner one from the edit tab directly.
I hope I didn't confuse things more... I can take a screenshot inside Studio to show the right tab later, if that will help.
I don't have this product, but in Iray you can get good mileage setting bloom threshold -- only lights above a certain luminance will bloom, so you can keep other illumination below the threshold or off-camera.
This will make your laser swords nicely soft-edged and neat!
Thanks! That did the trick.
Hey everyone,
The laser sword and staff do not load parented to the hands.
Poses for the figures only affect the figures. Poses for the sword or staff only affect the sword or staff.
You need to parent the sword and staff to the left or right hand first and then apply the sword or staff pose for it.
The colours for the blades are each a shader preset, you need to select the surface you want to apply them to first. They are not limited to just the blades, they can be used on any surface.
Thank you very much!
