I find the new face controls for 8.1 really limiting. Try subtle lip movements and expressions. Impossible with 8.1. Try, for instance, manipulting an 8.1 figure so that the upper teeth bite one side of the lower lip. I used to do that very easily before. But frankly, it is really, really difficult in 8.1. Lips expressions and subtle movements are pretty much a chore in 8.1.
Any possibility of getting the old Genesis 8 facial controls back as an add-on?

For instance - I challenge anyone to do this expression convincingly with the new Genesis 8.1 face controls.

Which G8 facial controls are you talking about?
Everything that can be done on G8 can also be done on G8.1 with the same tools, only the G8 base expressions require removal of the dummy files placed in G8.1 morph folders.
Did you see what I posted above? Lip controls. There are zero in 8.1. There is just so much you can do moving the mouth and jaw every which way. Can you recreate the lip pose posted in the image above? I wish you luck. I have been using Daz for 10 years and the facial controls in Genesis 8 finally got to a point where they were excellent. I do portaits and get commisioned to do them. I can no longer use 8.1 figures if I want to do subtle portraits with realistic lip/mouth expressions.
The ability to select that area and pose the mesh using an individual bone rather than the FACS controller is still there. What you do is use FACS to get your expression most of the way there & then fine tune as appropriate with Power Pose.
The old way couldn't convincingly do that pose either, as above you can get close, and you do that in the same way basically: you went to the same area in PowerPose after (hopefully) choosing the right expression to get you "most of the way there" with your desired expression.
Don't forget, with either method, using translate in combination with rotate is key to getting as close as you/DAZ Studio/model being used can manage. I did the linked render pose using FACS & Power Pose in 10 minutes, set up the lighting 5 minutes (Colm Jackson's Render Studio 1.0), and then the render, well a long time for so few iterations but I CPU render so not much I can do there. The lip bite in the render is reasonably like the one you gave with the limitations of the Genesis 8.1 Male model's (Michael 8.1) geometry used make the pose. If I spent about30 minutes further on the lip pose I could getting even closer, I don't typically try for that sort of detail so I've not done much with Power Pose expressions. You'd get faster the more you tried & practiced though.
Okay. Thanks for the example. I will give that a try.
Still you didn't explain what is missing (where) for G8.1
Everything that can be done with G8, can be done on G8.1 as well with the same tools that are used for G8.
Ps. We are not blind or hard of hearing, so stop shouting with the huge font.
Sorry about the huge font. In terms of what I can't do I explained in detail at the beginning. Nonsuch00 gave a very good response. Frankly, it's difficult to get subtle lip poses with a G8.1 figure, but Nonsuch00's suggestion is the best so far.
No, you still haven't told us how and where are you moving the lips on a G8 that you cannot do with G8.1?
There are several places and if you did explain what you are doing, we might understand what is missing.
As I have said before, G8.1 has all* the same controls as G8 has.
(* Some dials and power pose template may need removal of the dummy expression morphs in G8.1 installation)
