Is there a way efficiently zoom in from a far away view?

If the camera is zoomed far out, Which will happen if there is a large object in scene and view frame is clicked,  scrolling with wheel will not zoom in, it only seems to zoom in very little, is there a way to set the mouse wheel where it can zoom in an exagerated amount, for example you would be able to close up on some water ripples.

In the image there is only the plane there is not other refernece point to choose, but if there were a reference point such as as G8 figure that can be sleceted and zoomed in on then the opposite problem would happen, - in order to zoom out far where the edges of the plane can be seen seems impossible with rotate wheel as it will only zoom out seemingly very little.

daz would nt upload an image just now so here is an image link

This is special, only one plane? Mostly there are some nodes in the scene. So I would suggest to temporary create a primitive or null to focus.

My experience is, if your view camera is too far, select a node in the scene, mouse choose ActivePose tool (bone), not choose Surface, then right or left click the Aim button [+], you will get there.

Zoom out, except click S, no good idea. But if you want to temporary see the whole picture, select camera in scene tab, change the Focal Length value, you can see the whole picture, deformed, then undo it.

This Focal Length and Frame Width can also give a quick Zoom in.

  • You can zoom in with the right mouse button. I'm not sure how it works. It seems more like it is change the focal lenght but it can work. Another option is to create a null the size of the view that you want to come back to. Then you can frame on the null.

  • If it's a camera you could just select it and edit the translation values

Reset your view either camera or perspective using the arrow up in a cicle on the top right icons.

Use Right mouse in zoom icon . After you find position you like then Create new camera and pick option number three  . It will reset your fish eye fx caused by zoom out but place your camera in same position

Try the Scene Navigator on the Tool Settings Tab, here you can adjust the speed of the controls.

awesome what a relief, i did all 3,  I didnt get how Charles one worked though

with juvesatriani's method is there a way to get all onjects centered so  you wont even have to pan to center-after its zoomed in then with scene navigator is good to do that long panning-is there a trick to pan further with mouse left/right down?
