Exporting animations from DAZ Studio to Marvelous Designer (and back)
Hello all,
I've recorded a screencast that explains how to create an aniMate animation in DAZ Studio, export it to Marvelous Designer, create and drape clothing, and bring the animation back to DAZ Studio. It's half an hour long: https://youtu.be/Wz5AQ8azl4A
I've split the written instructions into two posts:
Exporting from DAZ Studio 4.7 and 4.8:
http://www.versluis.com/2015/03/how-to-export-animations-from-daz-studio-for-use-in-marvelous-designer/
Exporting from Marvelous Designer 4.5:
http://www.versluis.com/2015/03/how-to-export-garment-animations-from-marvelous-designer-for-use-in-daz-studio/
For this to work both ways you need Marcus Wilm's amazing animMoprh script, kindly hosted by Mr. Vintorix: http://www.sharecg.com/v/76477/gallery/8/Script/animMorph
and the full version of aniMate from DAZ Studio: http://www.daz3d.com/animate2
I'm explaining how this works with both MDD and FBX (and demonstrate the caveats of the latter).
Hope it helps ;-)

Excellent job, Jay. Many thanks. Your approach to tutorials is about the best I have seen.
Thank you, Dushka! Glad to hear it was helpful.
Great ..!
Big thanks Jay.
Hello, Jay Versluis ! I can`t download script animorph by your link http://www.sharecg.com/v/76477/gallery/8/Script/animMorph , can you help me find it? Thanks!
You have to remember that this was offered well over a year ago. it could well have been removed.
It was removed but I found it - works

I'm sorry to revive this old thread but I've watched the excellent video linked above and have one remaining question: would I be correct in assuming that, although DAZ Studio can export .mdd files (assuming one has Animate 2, which I do) we can't export the animations from Marvelous Designer in mdd format and import them into DAZ Studio, hence the multi-obj animorph script? In short: DAZ Studio doesn't have an MDD importer? Perhaps I missed that information in the video.
Yeah, just had a look at the import menu on daz studio, don't see mdd on the list of all formats. I saw with a google search someone put a link in these forums to a mdd importer they made, but the site linked no longer exists
Yep, I saw that too. I've added a request for mdd import to the thread discussing the new animation features:

Hopefully it is not such a big ask.
Here is a DIM compatible updated version of AnimMorph

Thank you.
