    Nika

I like short names for action characters.

  • Go here --> https://www.fantasynamegenerators.com/hobbit_names.php ... don't let the name of the address fool you. They literally have HUNDREDS of different generators. When I need a name, I pick a type (American, French, British, Polish, Elizabethan, etc,. and start clicking until I see something that catches me eye.

  • Jewel. Because she is one.

    Regards,

    Richard.

That depends on how you envision the character... you can take names from history or mythology... I'm only mentioning ones that are unusual and don't sound like common names, like "Beth", "Sally" or "Morgorthia Devourer of Souls"... Here are some from mythology and maybe history...

    Greek based names...

Eris- Greek goddess of discord and strife.

Enyo- One of the Greek goddess of war, often depicted with Ares.

Alke- (also known as Acle)... The spirit and personification of courage and determination in battle... mentioned in the Iliad, where she is depicted on Athena's shield along with Phobos, Loke and Eris.

Alastra- A bastardization of the Ancient Greek name for the personification of vengeance and blood feuds "Alastor".

Lyssa- The spirit of rage and fury in Greek mythology (she was also associated with rabies, but you don't need to mention that part).

Roman names... (most Roman mythological character names are too identifiable and sound too much like regular words)...

Neriene- (aka "Nerio") a Roman goddess of war (there were a couple depending on what you read), she was also the personification valor. Associated with Mars (maybe consort... I forget).

Bellona- Another goddess of war, but her name sounds too much like the sandwich meat "Bologna" (yeah, it's also an Italian city, but still).

Feronia- a Roman/Sabine goddess of wildlife, abundant harvests, fertility and health... but she is most importantly depicted as the goddess who granted freedom to slaves as well as justice and civil rights to the lowest members of society... she was a big deal to freedman and plebeians... a good name perhaps for a character who is an equalizer, delivering buttkickings to abusers and oppressors.

    Not Greek or Roman...

Kara: One of the Valkyries... maybe associated with something about being "stormy" or "bringer of storms"... not sure.

Zorya: Slavic goddess of dusk and dawn. Sometimes associated with death and rebirth.

Dola: Too much like cola, but was the Slavic spirit/personification of fate and destiny.

Kaji: A magical spirit from Georgian mythology that can be either malevolent or friendly depending on how humans treated them, female Kaji might help a hero on a quest.

Oya: A Yoruba warrior spirit (?)... guardian of the underworld (or underwear... I have a bad memory)... maybe associated with tornadoes and or maelstroms.

Inanna- Mesopotamian goddess of justice, war, and beauty (also sex and political power), the Assyrians, Babylonians and Akkadians worshiped her under the name "Ishtar"(no relation to the terrible 80s movie of the same name)... I don't  get the beauty part though, because every depiction I've seen of her in carvings, reliefs or sculpture, she's pretty damn scary looking.

Lozen: An Apache warrior, sister of Victorio, known for her fearlessness and bravery.

But my favorite and the most exotic is "Linda"... a name that will surely strike fear into the hearts of all who oppose her.

Also you could possibly use an online character name generator, but they usually suck.

EDITED TO CORRECT- I wasn't able to post this till well after the above post which mentions an online name generator, which I'm not referring to when I say many of them suck... so I can't speak for that one, just most of the ones I've come across, which happen to be pretty crummy... but not that one, which I've never visited.

    Good luck.

Also: Disclaimer... I make no claims of accuracy, historical fidelity or proper spelling as my memory is kinda crummy and my spelling is beyond atrocious, so if you like a name because of the meaning, fact check my stupid brain or look it up to be sure.
