Ok. So I have restored my backup to the new HDD in my iMac. DAZ Studio is once again operating :) By the way, the DIM files are here on a Mac:

    /Users/Shared/DAZ 3D/InstallManager/

I opened DIM and, as expected, it thinks that several packages are not installed when, in fact, they are. The problem was that I only backup once a week and the crash happened at the end of a week of "Madness" purchases.

So my question is: would it be ok to let DIM install these again even though they are already there?

If you don't have a lot of items or a monthly bandwidth cap...yeah, I'd make it happy by letting go ahead and download what it thinks is missing.

No cap, fast Fibre broadband. So no problem there.

It was only a dozen items anyway so I let it install them again and all seems hunky-dory now, thanks. :)

Go to Settings > Installation, right-click on the content location, and choose "Fix Installed File Registry" -- that way DIM will have a correct count of files installed by more than one product for uninstalls or updates.
