New to Studio

Ok, I've been rolling along with playing with Studio and I will admit that I'm a late bloomer with this program. The one thing that has bought me heart and soul so far is the way it fits all clothing items without much tinkering around done by me. Saves me sooo much time!
Well one thing I always messed with in Poser was adding or changing a skin texture. I might want to add an embellishment or maybe try and change color etc. Or even try my hand at using a merchant resource to make something from scratch.
I used to make stuff like that for Poser and I could navigate to that folder and install by hand all the new textures to the model.
I know where the texture/material files are located in the Poser runtime...but where the heck are they in Studio?
Plus, if I made my own textures, how would I get them on the Genesis figure? In Poser I know what I need to do, in Studio I'm not too savvy yet on where I would find the tab to allow me to play around with textures. If that makes any sense.
Thanks!

The actual texture .jpg's are in the Runtime:Textures folder like in Poser. To apply textures and change settings on a model you use the Surfaces pane.
In Studio the textures are in the same place as in Poser---runtime/textures folder. Where you put your own is up to you but a suggestion would be to create a folder with your name, like Nosiferret-testing, in the same runtime to save confusion.
The tab you're looking for is the Surfaces tab. Use the Surface Selection Tool (standard on the toolbar) and click on the surface (ctrl-click to work on more than one at a time). The material zone's surface properties will now show in the Surfaces tab. The textures you're speaking of, I assume, would be part of the Diffusion entry. Click on the little square at the left side of DIffusion.
edit: cross-posted. Ya beat me to it. :)
kind of along the lines....but little different...I am using the Gia6 texture and a Lantios light set....why does it appear that my model has a light bulb in her mouth? She has a slight smile and lips just parted and when I render it, there is this holy bright light coming out of her mouth. How in the world do I kill that? In Poser I think I had to color down the ambient or something, but I can't even find the "Mouth" texture segment in Studio.
My guess is that SSS is 'On' for the mouth. And if you go to the Surfaces tab for G2F (or your character...if it's Gia or someone else, doesn't really matter), you'll find several ways of accessing the various groups. One of the easiest is to expand the Default Templates and then step through them to see what is associated with each one...Number 4 is all the mouth parts. Just scroll down through the surface settings and turn SSS off for that group. (it takes a mighty bright light to have the interior of the mouth show SSS...)
Not that this has to do with anything, I just LOVE you're handle! Nosy-Ferret... awesome :)
Welcome to the wonderful world of DAZ Studio.
So far as Gia6 and her well lit mouth, can you post a render or screencap (depending) of what you're seeing?
