How do you all keep your content organized in your content library?

As my library grows I find it hard to actually locate what I'm looking for because...I'll forget, was it a prop or a figure? What was the name of the folder the content creator had me install it in? And don't get me started trying to find specific clothes

Do y'all install content using the paths that the content creator outlined or is it possible to set up paths for more efficiency? I know things like textures HAVE to be in a certain spot to save hassle. What about the props/clothes themselves?

    The obvious answer is Categories.

In DAZ Studio, you can create your own categories, and put everything where you find it is logical to you. It does NOT move the content itself, just an entry in a database, so there are no conflicts

Have a look at this video to see how easy it is :

I also find the search option at the top of the Content Library pane to be very useful, as well as the Products view where everything is listed alphabetically.

When creating your own Categories, you should save often and export the User Data so that it will never be lost, even if a db becomes corrupted in the future.

CATEGORIES. That's exactly the solution I'm looking for. I've been using DAZ for at least 3 years now and I never knew about that feature..thanks for that!

Can you explain what you mean by "export the User data"?

From the Content Library pane's menu icon, select “Content DB Maintenance” > "export user data". (This creates UserData_1.dsx in the first mapped native DS content folder's support subfolder , which you can then back up.) Note that if you have lots of content folders mapped, you will want to back up those mappings too so you don't have to retype them every time you reinstall the OS.

    Got it thanks alot.

One issue though I started creating the categories. At first it was going smooth and I added a few. But then all of a sudden it just stopped moving the clothing to categories. I would go through the whole categorize process and then when it'd be done I'd go to where I had categorized it too and it didn't move. Has anybody seen that before?

Is it possible that you categorized it in the new location, but forgot to uncategorize it from the old location, and it now exists in both places? I do that to myself a lot.
