- The stuff in the Sale is great, but where do you get the Gen 1/2 Model ?
- Are your only choices is apply the stuff to a Specific Actor / Model ONLY ?
Help and Thank You in advance.

1. The bases for Genesis (1) & male/female Genesis 2 are part of D/S 4.x; you don't buy them. (They are called Starter Essentials).
Now for older base figures (e.g.Hiro 3, Victoria 4) you must buy those in the store.
2. These older/clothing and pose items were designed for the model/actor listed. Clothing MAY be fitted to other figures (autofit but you will need to buy the "clone"for that old model most likely). You can find pose converters, free or for sale, for the poses.
That said, you may not get much use out of Vault items, other than props or environments if you are new to DS and using the latest generation/s, G3/8/8.1. The base models are different tech and the shaders aren't Iray. You probably will have trouble getting clothing for later generations to fit. Even for props and environments the lack of Iray shaders might be an issue
I found this tutorial to be very helpful for converting old shaders (3DL) to iray e.g. Complete scenes - fast and to the point:
https://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-training-intermediate-01--tweaking-the-surfaces
And in the worst case you still can use your own iray shaders on the items surfaces...
Be careful, in the vault sale there might be items for V1/M1, V2/M2 or V3/M3. Those are for the Generation 1, 2 or 3 figures, not Genesis 1, 2 or 3.
I often change out shades anyway to get the look I want. For models that aren't front and center, just applying the Iray base shader is usually sufficient for my projects. But I do have that tutorial wishlisted since I love playing with shaers
Thanks everyone for all of the input - At least now I can make sense of it all...
