Greenscreen effect

Hi guys,

I am really new here so I wanted to ask. Right now I am search for a possibility to render some parts of my character without the other things are to be seen.

Example I want to render a clothing on a character without the character without the character being rendered. I tried to use the visibile button on the scene menu to hide the character, but the back part of the clothing the back part is also rendered. 

I would like to know if there is a setting where the back part is not displayed or would it be possible with the greenscreen effect on the character?

I have a robe that I wanted to appear to be hanging in a closet. I loaded a G8F Character, put the robe on her, posed her in a way that  a robe would be (arms down, slightly in) and then just used the Opacity dial in the surfaces tab to "disappear" all her parts. It takes a few minutes but nothing Olympic.
