For Scenes With A Lot of Props Is There A Way To Merge Them To Reduce Sluggishness?

    It's usually down to the number of textures and the polygon count which makes the scene sluggish rather than the number of individual objects. The two do have a natural connection, however. Using lower polygon models will also help, as will reducing texture size. If neither of those are options, then remove a few items which aren't as necessary. You can always layer new props into a scene using separate renders.

    Composite renders are also something to consider.

    You can also change the draw style to smooth shaded (or anything besides the default texture shaded) though even that doesn't help sometimes. I just picked up Andrey's stunning Village Road and can't do a thing with it. No matter which draw style I use, the response is simply too sluggish to work with.

    This is an interesting concept. I saw something like this done for lighting to speed up renders..but never considered it for items in the scene to reduce sluggishness in the viewport. This is something I'll look into, Thanks for this.
