Gareth HD lips & eye problem (SOLVED)

I've just bought Garreth HD and I have a problem with the mouth. It's not closing properly in the default position.
I've tried applying the texture to M6 to see if that was the problem (he looks now almost like David 5 ;-)), but those lips render fine.
Any suggestions as to what's the cause of the problem and how it can be solved?

I also had a thread about this. DAZ want al their default characters to have their lips slightly parted.
Not sure why but it's what they ask the PA's to do when making the characters...
That seems strange. The original poster's image shows that DAZ did not do that with M6.
They do, only in the right figure it seems more exaggerated, let me try and find my original post...
EDIT
Found it :)

Oh they did, but its more subtle, lower the camera angle, you'll see it. Is rather odd they'd think this is normal. Lips are sealed in relaxed state for most people imo. Mind you G2F has this same problem allot in the characters belonging to it.
Thanks for the link. I see what you mean in that low camera angle. I hadn't noticed it on M6, but i don't use him much.
we consider this a problem  cultural differences from dazneyland?
Could likely be displacement settings shrinking the lips a bit

Thanks everyone for the answers.
Yes, I also find it rather odd to have the mouth opened by default.
Displacement was my first idea, too, which is why I applied the skin to another character.
I used the same texture on both characters, so the displacement maps are the same. The only difference is that the one uses M6 and the other uses the Gareth HD morphs as a base.
EDIT: I have closed the mouth at -0.7 to get rid of the open space.
While rendering a closeup, I noticed something strange about the eyes. It looks like he's wearing contacts that poke out of his eyes. :ohh:
EDIT2: It looks like the Cornea and the Sclera are not behaving together. :-(
The eye issue seems to be something in his actual geometry. I tried different eye textures and shaders, and it was present in all of them when I left everything in his eye at default values.
I was able to make it go away by increasing the Eye Iris Size, in the parameters, until the top and bottom of his iris are covered by his eyelids.
I also scaled his eye size up slightly, because they look like there's space at the corners in closeups. That I did by selecting the eye in the scene menu and using the scale slider; otherwise if you use the Eyes Size parameter slider, it also reshapes his eyelids to match, which I didn't want.
I have a feeling the artist might have subdivided the mesh in ZBrush at some point when creating the head morph, which has a tendency to shrink the openings on the head. I would bet dollars to donuts this is why you are seeing this. And as for the eyes, well the cornea is not actually attached to the eyeball, therefore it would also shrink when subdivided. When returning the figure to its original resolution, these shrinkages can remain.
For the eye thing I just turn the Eye Cornea Bulge morph all the way up.
Hi everyone,
I'm really sorry for the issues you're experiencing with Gareth. I'm going to create some fixes and then provide an update for the character asap.
Raiya
Edit: Some work-arounds for now: Setting the "Lips Part"-morph to -0.2 closes the mouth completely. And the eye issue only seems to happen when you load the character as a whole, not when you load Michael 6 and then apply the Gareth head morph separately. Really weird... Going to to take care of that. Again: Very sorry!
np Raiya and thanks for the updates, I love you characters :)
Dear Raiya,
first of all, thank you for creating a wonderful character. :-)
Also, thanks for looking into the issues and providung us with a workaround. It's very much appreciated!
Thank you both :) You know, I'm testing my characters carefully, I have a beta tester as well and of course there's the official Daz testing process. But yet somehow it is possible to miss things.
Anyway, the good news is: I fixed both the lips & the eye problem and the update should be available to you soon.
