I need help figuring out what I did wrong on my latest installation?
I am pretty savvy when it comes to moving stuff around and locating hidden folders, but I am unsure which folders I should have stuff in.
...and, Favoratings will not install I think it is because I installed once and I deleted the install.
I wanted applications on my C drive now I think they are located in two or three places.
:(
can you please look over these images and let me know optimum directories to have all this stuff in?
Thank you VERY much for any help!

well, the DIM 'Install Failed' mostly is because the .zip file has problem. When this happened, I normally installed the file manully (then it will not appeared in Smart Content), or, unzip the file and re-zip it.
Oh thanks Function for that tip on FavorRating, I forgot about that, manual is the way to go with that install!
Could someone please copy and paste the paths here in a post that their Daz setup has so I have a reference on how mine should look? Thanks
I could not find a way to get the paths to go back to a default state.
My library took the best part of day and half a night to download and I am hoping I can get it simplified without having to download it again.
I have a feeling I am going to end up downloading installing it all again. (this time saving the downloads)
Everything (except favorating) is working but it is way too tangled and too hard to work with in this state. I don't know which app version goes to what data? I am going to copy all of the paths and then delete/uninstall everything possible and then try again.
My Windows registry is probably a mess too and Daz Studi itself has no uninstall entry that I could find in Windows add remove programs.
I should have kept the download files...
Right-click should give an option to restore defaults - I can't recal if it's on the field or on the button, and DIM takes a good ten minutes to open (downloads on USB drive) so I can't check.
Wow Richard, that is very useful info about resetting default! Thank you!
I am assuming if I just move these resources into the right folders overwrite redundancy that Daz will refresh the data properly.
I am thinking the thing that is going to bite me is that I installed both 32bit and 64 bit into the same directory...
Maybe I can get this way by as long as the 64bit Daz Studio works fine.
32 and 64 bit overwriting in the same location will definitely cause problems.
Don't know if mine can help, but mostly the path should be setup in DAZ's preferences, not just in DIM.
I think I finally got my installation right.
I might leave you with a few suggestions.
Download the installation packages and keep them in a folder for future problems if they arise.
I might also caution you that getting the settings right so the IM does not overwrite your paths is tricky.
You set your paths and the IM puts them on your C Drive anyway.
Then you have a fractured installation so double check that the stuff is actually going into the folder that you specify.
My C drive is a solid state 2tb M.2 drive but it has a weird partition so half of the space is on another partition so it will not hold 1.5tb of Daz content data.
I have my Daz data going to a second 2tb solid state M.2 drive.
Also make sure your library is not nested down deep within in several folders like mine was.
Mine is now, Daz Content/My Daz 3D Library
Also, delete erroneous libraries that are in Daz Studio.
The reason why I never used Daz contend tab was because my previous installation was a disaster.
I had several folders with the name "My Daz 3D Library" and all of them had varying degrees of data in them.
I had a My Daz 3D Library within a second My Daz 3D Library folder with stuff in both.
What a mess that was.
I never knew where to stick stuff when manually installing stuff so I would duplicate them in as many places as possible hoping one would work.
Now, I have only one data tree My Daz 3D Library and there is no redundancy and I do not have two previews for each product in smart content.
As for the Dazcentral, I love the way it is set up but it cannot do batch installs and the chance that even installing it and opening it, it might change my install paths l will not attempt to install it.
I think I am all set for now, your help has been very much appreciated Daz peeps!
One other note, I tried to get the thumbnails sent to a folder with my other content and that got overridden. I am not sure where the thumbnails are stored as of now. I will do some research.
I will post images of my install paths for your own scrutiny and possible help.
The items are in the folders I specified and that took a lot of wrangling to accomplish.
Hope this is helpful to others who have had this same issue.
I had to do a clean install of Windows for Windows 11 because my hard drive was not partitioned in the right UEFI format
and I could not figure out how to switch the format while keeping my data intact.
I hope it is a long time before I ever have to do this again.
Best peeps!
