Creating/Saving Morphs - Partials

Greetings all,

I have been trying to figure out how to save certain portions of a morph. For example, if I shape a figure's legs, how do I save just the legs as a morph that can be easily applied later on?

I know how to save full body morphs, and even just the head, by using the selectors during saving. However, I cannot seem to select just the portions I want for legs, or just the torso.

Please advise. Thanks.

  • Are you applying leg morphs, or are you applying full body morphs and wanting to limit their scope? The latter isn't possible in the way you want, but if they are not HD morphs there are ways to create limited versions of the full body morph (for your own use, you can't of course share the split morph) - it can be done manually, but the simplest route is to use ShapeSplitter https://www.daz3d.com/shape-splitter

  • @Richard,

Well, let's say I have 2 full body morphs. I want to use the legs from one morph, and the chest from the second morph. I know that shape-splitter add-on talks about 'splitting' the morph, but I think it only suggests splitting the head and body morph, not individual parts of the body morph, such as legs seperate from torso, separate from chest, separate from feet, arms, hands, etc.

  • Shape Splitter can do anything, though it has inital setups for certain popular/common divisions.

  • hello i have the same question.
the reference to "Shape Splitter" is quite nice, but how can I do it myself?
you write "it can be done manually, but the simplest route...".
how do i do it manually now? that was actually the question...

or is it such a big secret that you can't or won't tell??

    thanks for your real help.

  • Truth is, I've had the Shape Splitter add-on in my wishlist for about 4 months now... just waiting on a good sale price.

I have become hesitant with certain purcahses from Daz store because the descriptions are often vague to the point of being irrelevant. I wish there was a place where people would post reviews about the content they have purchased so others can see what it's like. There are hardly any examples, other than what the seller puts up in the 'window' for us to see.

Maybe I'll just bit the bullet and get the Shape Splitter and see how it works.

  • @Richard Haseltine,

Could you elaborate a bit on the part about "... certain popular/common divisions"? Please?

  • @CGI3DM

thank you very much for your help and hints (links).
Shape Splitter is definitely a good, helpful tool, but it is important to me to be able to do such things on my own under certain circumstances.

    i will try it :)

  • Well, I'm trying to work with the shape splitter off & on, but I still cannot get it to do what I've been mentioning. So far, I can only seem to have the option to load "store bought" morphs and not my own stuff.

The tutorials are nice, but I'm either missing something altogether, or it just doesn't explain it very well.

To divide the legs of a figure is done in 5 steps.

1.- We select the Morph from the list of morphs.
If in this step, we don't find the morph we can create the morph from the current shape. This is done from the Combine tab. Once the morph is created you can see it in the list

    2.- select the legs

    3.-. Click in Preview
    4. -save the morph
5.- Establish the name of the new morph

Now we have divided only the legs

Important.- To use this new one in other scenes it is necessary to save it as Assets.

For more information, you can refer to the manual.

  • Thanks for the feedback.

The problem I have is, the SAVE button is always greyed out. I have gone through the COMBINE rouitine, as suggested, and selected LEGS, but the SAVE button is still grey... I cannot click it.

I'm sorry, I am missing a step and it is in the  "Preview button", it is the one that enables the button to save.
