VDB products question (Stonemason, Sickleyield,...)

Hello !

can we use VDB (Duf DS4 files ) in external software ? e.g. : If I buy some new VDB Duf files do I have access to the VDB files to use them in other soft VBD compliants?

DimensionTheory mention that VBD files are also included. What about Stonemason ? Sikleyield ?....

Thanks

VDB's are included with mine, and I'm sure with Sickleyields also. I've only tested in 3dsmax and Daz Studio but I would expect them to be opened by any software that can read VDB files

    Hello

I confirm : VDB files are there !

    1. Stonemason : in the geometries folder
    2. Sickleyield and DimensionTheory :  in the textures folder
  • What is the file size of the vdb files?

Didn't have time to test them:

Stonemason: 58 meg to 850 meg approx

Dimensiontheory: High res:  12 meg to 330 meg (there are also a low res files)

Sickleyeld (fog): 350k to 17 meg

From what I understand : duf files doesn't contain the vdb files but a link to vdb which are in either the geometries or textures folders. I may be wrong but that means vdb files are accessible for all Daz purchases

Here is a quick test in octane with a dirty shader and a ramdom cloud from Stonemason, Dimension and Sikleyield

Stonemason and Dimension are very big clouds compared to Sickleyield's but purpose is not the same. All of them are great to add beautiful skies and special effects :-)

You can, but you may have rotation issues with VDBs from Blender (mine) when importing them to programs that aren't Blender. In Daz Studio I handled this by parenting them to another node that is repositioned to compensate so the issue doesn't affect the end user.

    Hello Sickleyield  !

I had success to import your VDB files in Octane standalone and yes I had to do some rotation but also placement. Not a problem as I use to merge different source objects in the same octane render scene. Thanks for your support
