i NEED TO RESET DAZ STUDIO TO FACTORY STATE

Hi there.

I have tried to enter a new shortcut in the customize panel and since then I cannot use Daz anymore, so many issues, menus that don't unroll, iray render gives a black image..,

can someone tell me how to come back to initial condition of the whole software?

I already have done "defaults", apply, but without any succes. tried several other things like uninstall-reinstall (twice!) no way it comes back with the same issues.crying

    It's not possible since the daz developers don't provide this option. You can do it but need to mess with the registry. Not something for normal people.

    basically:

    1. uninstall everything with the normal tools
    2. find all the leftover daz files on disk and delete them yourself
    3. find all the leftover daz entries in the registry and delete them yourself

    At least you know it can't be done. Not easily. Your best bet is to open a support ticket may be they will provide you more options that I'm not aware of.

    I search for "daz". Did it a couple times successfully but a long time ago since now I use daz studio only to export to blender.

    do you mean that you export your scenes to blender for rendering?

    I wouldn't recommend deleting things your registry unless you know what you are doing with it.

    You can do alot of damage fast.

    Should you choose to do so.

    I recommend you make a backup of it before you start deleting things.

    Sounds like you've got a couple common problems really.

     

    Adding new shortcuts to the main menus shouldn't make your renders all black.That's caused by other things.

    The new version of Daz needs the new GPU driver from Nvidia, or else your renders come out all black.Unfortunatly Nvidia are currently under cyberattack.So you really shouldn't download anything from there right now.

     

    There is current an issue with the new 4.20 general release version that won't save layouts also.Which is what I believe to be your "menus that don't unroll" problem.

    That problem has been fixed in the beta.You can get the release version to save your layout.There is a post here on the forum explaining how.

    I can't remember where it was at, so I'll have to hunt it down again.

     

    So the best questions right now are; What GPU driver version do you have installed, and what version of Studio do you have installed?

    Downloading the new driver from Nvidia solved the black render problem.

    For the rest I adjust by using shortcuts.

    @Hogyo As suggested by Richard -cleanOnLaunch works fine here. Wasn't aware of this option since it's after 4.12 before I messed with these things myself. While -resetDefaults doesn't seem to work or it does other things. And yes I animate and render in blender with diffeomorphic, so only use daz studio to export assets.
