Hi All
Anyone know of any skins for the Saurian Soldier?
I got it/him from RenderXXX site
I really like the character and it has a lot to offer, but the skins are (not wishing to offend) a little dull.
I am looking for something like reptilian skin with scales and the like.
Thanks ahead of time and hope you had a good weekend.

I would think any skins you could find for it would also be on Renderosity. I can't even guess how it's UV mapped, so I couldn't recommend anything in the Daz store. Do you have the original Saurian soldier, or the redux version?
Hi
I have the original Saurian soldier, I dont know of or what the redux version is
https://www.renderosity.com/rr/mod/bcs/deepspace-3ds-saurian-soldier-redux-for-daz-studio/124346/
LOL well I didnt know that. thanks
maybe you could use the materials from
https://www.daz3d.com/lizardian-for-genesis-81-male
https://www.daz3d.com/crawk-for-genesis-3-male
https://www.daz3d.com/sobek-hd-crocodile-for-genesis-8-male
Thanks I will have a look and give it a try
It seems to be a stand-alone figure, so, unless something weird is going on, it won't take any genesis materials. Please check if you can apply a regular skin to it before making any possibly unnecessary purchases.
ah I didn't realise it was a standalone
that makes things difficult
Thanks guys/girls and cats.
yes its a stand alone and will take a bit of texture kit bashing (this may take a bit of time)
Well, if you're aware of the issue and know how to work around it (I don't, to be clear--it looks like a lot of work), then I can't recommend these enough:

https://www.daz3d.com/sobeks-hd-alternate-skins
https://www.daz3d.com/bullwargs-hd-alternate-skins

thanks for the Info, its very welcome.
I think it will be worth the effort, As I said I really like the figure its just the skin.
https://www.daz3d.com/alternate-textures-for-oso-newt-and-genesis-81-males
https://www.daz3d.com/sobeks-hd-alternate-skins
both of these are an instant buy

is in my wish list untill its on sale.
As for the others they look a bit to much for what I am looking for, but thanks again for the info
Thank you for recommending our textures, @Uthgard. Some things to consider for @myotherworld in regards to our alternate skins is that save for Bullwarg's and Newt's skins, all the other packs based on Joe Quick's creatures follow the unique UVs made by that PA. They also have their own grafts (tail and/or wings) so absent that graph, you get a part of the texture that isn't filled.
Newt's Alternate Textures were the first pack where we created additional torso textures so the skin could be used with or without the tail graph (and since that's from Oso, he followed the same UVs as Genesis 8.1). This patching of the skin was done in consideration to Uthgard's feedback way back when Sobek's Alternate Textures came out (but by then, we had already finished Demos' and Gargoyle's skins, so they didn't benefit from that feedback. And Drago's shape is so extreme that his skins may look to out of place if used on other characters).
And since Bullwarg doesn't have any geographs, his alternate skins work perfectly on a Genesis 8 character, as shown here and here.
Thank you for the heads up.
I hope I can done your textures justice. If I dont think they are up to that, my project will never see the light of day. lol
Just on the hunt for a Genesis 8.1 Male template now
If you mean a UV template, you can download them from your product library (inside the Genesis 8 Starter Essentials) ;).
thank you
More than happy to recommend such excellent additions to the genesis line--fantasy and sci-fi characters were woefully limited without the options these bring to the table. Also, I'm still giddy that you listened to my suggestion, because it certainly made Newt's Alternate Textures a day one purchase, and I very rarely do those. It's a pity about Demos' and Gargoyle's skins, but they still work wonderfully for their intended purpose or with clothed characters.
Also, thank you for the detailed breakdown. I couldn't do it due to computer issues and faulty (human) memory.
Hi All
I would like to thank you all for your help, it really has been most helpful.
I will have to drop this project, as I was warned there is a lot of work involved.
But after some tests I find the figure is not up to the job at hand, there is stretching of the mesh/texture in noticeable areas that cannot be avoided (or I don’t know how)
So, I am going to change figure. I looked at Genesis 8/8.1 figures and came across Saurian HD for Genesis 8 Male. A good model but not what I am after torso is a little too long and the face has to many sharp bumps.
So I think I will go with Reptilian 6 for Genesis 2 male, OK I will not be able to use the textures recommended by Uthgard ( thanks again, they will be used on other projects)
But the Reptilian 6 dose have a few textures and poses that can be used out of the box.
So thanks again. ( it would have been fun, if it had worked)
Theere is this guy to, always top quality from Rawart Lizardian for Genesis 8.1 Male | Daz 3D
Thanks jedijudd I will give him and the vendors store a look over.
But as Dolly would say, the time has as come to "sh1t or get off the pot"
I definitely get that whole "time to start working and stop preparing to work" thing (mostly because I usually fail to get to that stage), so this will possibly be worthless to you. Still, these are a couple of quick tests I did with the Sobek skins and this morph pack, just to see how well they would work together, as I had always loved the shapes but had no good skins to use with it. I was very satisfied with the results, seeing how little actual work I put into it.
