Comments: In 1968, Erich von Daniken published "Chariots of the Gods", which caused quite a stir by questioning if cave paintings and other ancient artifacts were evidence of visits by alien civilizations. Two years later, a documentary film based on the book was released. Also called Chariots of the Gods, it became the 9th highest grossing film of 1970. It has spawned countless other books, movies and TV shows (including the ongoing series "Ancient Aliens" - 16 seasons so far - produced by the History Channel).
This render loosly fits the iconic "Chariots" theme of visitation, although it blends in some Planet of the Apes time loop as well. :)
It includes the Homo Erectus character and a modified version of the M3 Spacesuit, neither of which I had used before.
No postwork, but the BG was heavily edited in PSE.
* The title is a play on words from the famous Pogo cartoon by Walt Kelly (and the cartoon itself was a play on words from a famous quote from Oliver Perry)

Comments: This is not an iconic moment, but rather an iconic setting in the Poldark saga. The shipwreck, the smuggling operation, and Ross's nude swim all happened there.
To some extent, Cornwall's rugged coastline is the star of the show. Incredibly picturesque scenes.
Ross Poldark is M5. Got to play with the facial morphs A LOT, which was fun and instructive.
The outfit is Corsair from Luthbel. HMS Victory is the ship. The terrain and water are all Carrara.
No postwork, mostly because Philemo's plugins have made it possible to adjust almost everything within Carrara.

Comments: Fans familiar with this movie know that it has two iconic scenes. I couldn't decide which to do, so I combined them (as was often done on the original movie posters).
M3 is Roger Thornhill. Products include the Roaring 20's gangster suit, a George Washington statue OBJ (modified) and the Daz Biplane.
Carrara native processes include Fire, Clouds, Terrain, Lens Flare, and Text. GMIC tools helped me to do it all in Carrara.

Comments:
This is an image from the opening credits of "Counterpart," a sci-fi TV series originally broadcast on the Starz network. Sadly, It only ran for two seasons, ending over a year ago.
Highly recommended, if just to watch J K Simmons in action. The game of Go is also used as a metaphor, so I could have entered this in the last Challenge. :)
Here is a sample of the opening credits. At about the 50 second mark, you will see the image.
The render below was done entirely in Carrara, using vertex objects, primitives, procedural shaders, volumetrics, lights, and a Carrara mesh model from the Object menu. As a result, it took less than 2 seconds to either load or save. My kind of render!
No postwork.

Title: Jason and the Harryhausenauts
Artist: Diomede
Link to WIP: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/7256591/#Comment_7256591
Credits: Michael 4 and the Poser skeleton.
Comments: One of my favorite movies as a young boy was Jason and the Argonauts. The special effects were done by Ray Harryhausen, a master of stop motion film-making. The skeleton sword fights are considered iconic scenes in the history of special effects.
Entry # 13

Comments: Iconic scene from Gone with the Wind in which a starving Scarlett O'Hara swears an oath to lie cheat steal, whatever it takes, so that neither she nor any of her folk endure hardship again.

Title: Synchronized Swimming from the Black Lagoon
Artist: Diomede
Link to WIP: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/7272696/#Comment_7272696
Credits: Genesis 2 Female from Daz, Creature from Poser
Comments: What can I say about "Creature from the Black Lagoon"? If you like this category of movie, then the swimming scenes are iconic.
Entry #15
Title: Rankin/Bass Mad Monster Party Tribute
Artist: Diomede
Link to WIP: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/7375326/#Comment_7375326
Credits: Everything modeled, rigged, textured in Carrara, although many are edits of items made for previous challenges.
Comments: As a young boy, I loved the stop motion claymation, puppets, dynamation, and similar fantasy movies. Because of their popular holiday specials, it is easy to forget that the team of Rankin and Bass also made movies. Mad Monster Party was one of my favorites. Hard to watch now as an adult, but I loved it as a kid.

This is tough. Many of the movies referenced bring back strong memories. Well done, everyone.

Comment - I have not seen the series, but I watched the trailer that UB linked to. Masterful job of capturing the mood and intensity.
Entry: 9
Title: Close Encounters
Artist: Bunyip02
Comment - so many scifi alien movies are about how things go wrong. Bunyip captured how Spielberg took an entirely different perspective. Well done.
Entry # 21
Title: Calamity Jane
Artist: Stezza
The late Doris Day would be proud of the way Stezza's morphs and posing evoke the power with which Ms Day infused the character in the musical.
Wish I had more votes.
