Though it appears to be more rare than hens' teeth, I'm still looking for practical medieval/Fantasy leather armour for G8F. Something along these lines;
Does anyone know of something?

Me too
Aren't we all...
If only we could rig that Skyrim mod to work on a Daz character...
(Yes, I'm sure it's possible, but that's definitely advanced user not-the-average-bear territory...)
A couple I found over at Rendo store that might make good bases for something like this are "Night Guard" by RPublishing and "SC Taavi Armor" by secondcircle.
You'd have to find something to use for the hood and maybe more strap or harness belts.
Or this?

Albeit nice, It's pretty hard for that to say anything other than "The Witcher". And the chest/shoulder straps end up utterly destroyed when fit on G8F...even after zeroing out much of the breasts to simulate tight armor smooshing them flat...tried it.
It's not exactly what you're looking for but the Tara Outfit for Genesis 8 Female isn't too bad. You can use a geoshell to cover the exposed thighs.
This one has a flat boot and some detailing on the leather. https://www.daz3d.com/greenmarch-ranger-for-genesis-8-females
This has some mail in it and is for G3F. https://www.daz3d.com/alicia-armor-outfit-for-genesis-3-female-s
A G3M outfit from Luthbel, https://www.daz3d.com/wildenlander-watch-hd-for-genesis-3-male-s with the textures giving some more options. No idea if looks good in women.
This is Rogue Hunter for G8M, the textures are more interesting. Bits might be useful: https://www.daz3d.com/rogue-hunter-outfit-for-genesis-8-male-s and https://www.daz3d.com/rogue-hunter-outfit-textures Also, no idea if it will work on women.
This is one of the best for G8F: https://www.daz3d.com/greenmarch-ranger-for-genesis-8-females
There was this for G2F from 3DUniverse: https://www.daz3d.com/ranger-outfit-for-genesis-2-female-s
That outfit looks similar to one that was posted in the Marvelous Designer thread, https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/364011/the-marvelous-designer-thread/p1. It could have been made there and may be offered there. Your best bet would be to either make it yourself, or to kitbash and use shaders.
Are you able to post some examples of your results? I've tried to convert to G3F and G8F and I've given up. The sleeves and shoulders never seemed to behave, particularly with the leather vest (the caps at the shoulder). Consquently, I also had this same problem trying to covert to G8M from G3M too.
my favourite, has leather undersuit

Thanks for all the links! Quite a few things I hadn't seen before.
Yeah... give Aeon Soul a long hard look.
yVas. Honestly, it just needs a cape and the fortitude not to use it as lingerie.
There are also hooks all over to hang useful items, like pounchs, symbols, books, and vials. I'm sure you could slap a knif sheith on with that.

This might seem off, but there is a leather add on, which also includes damage from all kinds of sources.

yes have yVas too, their sets all mix and match
I've seen those sets before. They've always seem a bit too... fancy to me.
I've purchased most of Aeon Soul's products, including yVas, and one thing I've noticed is that it does (in general) tend to go quite wonk when using anything other than the base G8 shape. The chest/shoulders are what gets wonkified the most.
Apologies, Melissa. It's been a long day at work. So I thought I had converted to G8F but in reality I had only converted half of the items of Wildenlander Watch. So I just spent the last 30 minutes converting to G8F and did a quick render. I think I see what you are saying about the sleeves on the vest. I don't really notice it on G3F or G8M, but either way it doesn't really bother me for the most part. I didn't use dforce settings on the leather vest, but the tunic, pants, and padded shirt have dforce applied ( I don't think it's necessary, but I like the drape I get on the lower tunic). Now to see if I can remember how to attach the images.

Very nice! Did you do anything special in the conversion process? I normally convert clothing manually using the scene identifcation change along with baking the joint rotations...then doing the rigging transfer from G8 to the clothing item. Theoretically, it should be the same process as RSSY's converter. Also, what settings did you use for dForce? OOOH! And can I also ask how you got the hood down? I don't think I've ever been able to do that...I think I would use that cloak all the time if I could have figured that out.
The textures also look much improved over the settings out of the box.
I almost always use the Scene Identification process to convert and that's what I did here except for the hip belt which didn't work that way for the ladys. I had to use the Autofit option for the belt. As such, I lost the extra bones for the scabbard and horn, neither of which I absolutely need. I've had such terrible luck with a lot of Riversoft's converters except for the G2 versions. I managed to get it to work on a few things but I'm not 100% happy with the results. Dforce settings: I'll do a screen shot of the tunic and padded shirt. In regards to the textures: I did not like Luthbel's choice of using Specular/Glossiness for the leather and cloth. It gives it a plastic-like, strange gloss like the leather has a gloss overlay. I switched them all to Metallicity/Roughness and cranked up the Glossy Roughness to about .5 and Metallicity to .4. I also set all the outfit pieces at Render subD 2 for the closeups. I love the work Luthbel puts into the HD modeling.
The hood I created a quick morph to pull the hood up and back and then I just increase the hood's X scale so it clears the character's head. It drapes okay with dForce but it can sometimes be fussy for whatever reason. The cloak is thick though and that might be why I get the occasional wonkiness during the draping process. With all the dForced items, I think I used EcVh0's dForce Clothing Presets ( https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-master-cloth-simulation-presets ) and then adjusted the strength and a few other options to suit.

Thank you thank you!
