Price Adjustment Question

So I bought an item a couple days ago, and now it's on sale for $4.99 during March Madness.
The "Cannot be used to discount items already owned" reads a little clunky. In DAZ's policy terminology, does it consider a price adjustment as a discount?

Yes, but best to put in a support ticket. Honestly, that is not a "price adjustment"
Finally got a message back from DAZ, and it looks like they've updated their price adjustment policy. I asked a similar question like this last year, and it was honored as a price adjustment.
I purchased the item on Feb 21, and by Mar 3 it went down $25.

so they wont honor the sales price?
EDIT: wow, I just read that and its from 16 Feb. 2022. wow, DAZ Thats terrible. They always honored pricing like this in the past. Usually withing 30 days of purchase.
Same experience with support, no more adjustments; within 30 days or otherwise.
yeah, didn;t even think of that one. I've only used it twic in all the years I've been here. Its like nails in the coffin over and over.
I have used it a few times and it was pretty painless and at the time is because the product didn't work correctly. If it went away, I highly doubt it would affect me much since I rarely use it and do my research before buying normally.
I looked over my ticket history dating back five years. Last price adjustment I requested was January 2021, and before that was once a year. I can understand if customers misuse this policy, cos all those dollars add up in the end. I worked in retail for a number of years, and I had to "educate" my customers when policies would change. It wasn't a fun experience. The 30 day return policy became a 180 day return policy; then the 180 day return policy became an unlimited return policy. When the unlimited return policy went back to 180 days return policy, the customer base was not happy! To be considerate to the customers, we'd give them a "one time exception" to the policy so that way they would leave happy and hopefully return.
I don't mind them changing the bundles. I don't mind them changing the new discount to 20%. I don't mind them pushing NFTs. This new policy pretty much says, "Once I've got your money, it's mine." Now I understand why people are shopping elsewhere...
I am having a PC coupon refund policy issue that has been going on for 2 weeks. Due to a promo image, I purchased an item for $5.11 with the DAZ $6 monthly PC coupon. However, the item was mis-represented in the image, which the PA acknowledged was a "negative". I then removed the product from my system and asked DAZ for a refund of $5.11 or a re-instatement of the coupon. My refund request was made on 2/23. So far, it is still open. I contend that since the $6 monthly PC coupon was "purchased" with my PC membership, it does have intrinsic value, and is "refundable form of money".
I have asked for this type of refund previously, and have never had this kind of delay. If DAZ does not give me my refund in a couple of days, I will start a forum thread on my issue.
Is DAZ getting greedy?
Looking at it from what it is, a business, to make and increase revenue, one can expect DAZ to do what they think they need to do. We, as customers, can express dissatisfaction, offer up kudos, buy the stuff, or not buy the stuff. Leave or not leave. We have a ton of choices. DAZ bottom line will dictate the path forward. We stroll along the path or take a different fork.
I've also only used it a few times, but I probably should have used it more. One thing I have learned is that submitting a fully documented help request is no guarantee that product problems will be fixed. You can wait years for nothing after the request is sent to "QA".
I agree, @daveso. In the end, it is only $25. It just makes me think twice about doing business with DAZ.
Lucky for them, there are not many competitors that offer what they offer, warts or not. I come from a game design background, so I have TONS of 3D models I can import into DS, or I can make my own if i need, yet I would still be sad if DAZ went out of business for whatever reason. Now imagine what the majority of hobbyists here that rely on DAZ to supply them with everything, even smart content to they don't have to even look for their addons, they would be totally lost.
Well they don't want to anymore. So they may notice a deep lull in sales in the month(s) before certain expected big sales {when we hope desired products might be included in the sales}.
btw - at that link, and being signed in to that part of the website, one can VOTE a hands up or down as to how helpful they find that news item although I voted going by how I felt about the news.
While I have had DAZ+ coupons refunded or reinstated before, when I returned an item that was paid in part with my DAZ+ coupon last December I was told that even if the items are reurned once used the coupons were no longer useable or redeemable again.
Wait, so is the 30-day no-questions-asked return policy still a thing? And that is not a small amount of money Write Idea, especially for a single product to drop that much. I think a lot of us are just going to wait for everything to end up in a Flash Sale or Fast Grab at this rate.
No, we don't. The other sites are flea markets compared to DAZ, and not everyone can just model what they need.
I wonder if prices are going up because of DAZ's new growing customer base that can drop $800 on a pre-built character.
its still one of the numerous choices. stay here and deal with what is.
Maybe more limited now. From The FAQ on 16 Feb:
The only time the price of an item will be lower is if it is on sale. Per the new policy the price difference will no longer be credited back to the purchaser, even when within the 30 days of purchase. Not limited; it is all encompassing.
It's a strange policy. Most retail has some sort of "price protection" policy for a short period, whether explicitly stated or not. They realize the small cost involved versus a customer feeling gypped makes it an obvious choice.
But you can still return items you don't want; so, that part of the 30 Day return policy is still in effect
If enough customers do this, then it's likely the flash and fast grabs go away. let's face it, the deep sales at DAZ are it's own worst enemy. Where I work in retail, we used to mark down rotisserie chickens after 7 pm. It got to the point that sales prior to 7pm dropped by 60% and customers got in the habit of waiting for the markdowns. We eliminated this practice and found another use for the chickens and eventually the sales went back up prior to 7pm. People need to realise, a business has one goal, to make money. While making customers happy is a priority, if you lose money in the process, you go out of business.
There is a bit of overhead to have staff continually addressing tickets and making adjustments. I can see this change in policy making sense.
I've been removing items from my wishlist because I've realized I already own equivalents of the same product. I think Daz has finally hit a saturation point, like I keep saying, adding more pretty faces and skimpware isn't going to increase revenue. Why should we buy what we already have? Time to think outside the box and develop props/scenes/characters that are not in the store. I'm making a list of products they should create and will be posting at some point.
Perhaps should you ask for a refund unless you really need that item right now?
@SnowSultan, I did get the product for a really good sale. It was originally $100, then dropped down to $33 and some change. The only thing that gets my goat is if I had waited 10 days I would have got it for $4.99. And the only reason I noticed it was $4.99 that day was because someone wrote about that product on the boards.
BTW: love your artwork!
@Unseen, I really do, sadly.
@FSMCDesigns, That's the hard balance between customer service and business. This is why the "one time exception" is a good business practice. It educates the customer base into the new policy, while (hopefully) keeping them as a repeat customer.
I'm someone who stops whatever I'm doing and looks at my phone at DAZ Midnight (when the website updates at midnight Mountain Standard Time for those who don't know what 'DAZ Midnight' is). I kid you not, I love looking to see what's new and what's on sale on a daily basis. And I will buy stuff daily if there is a good sale or if it's new and I just have to have it. I didn't do that last night and don't think I'm going to.
I will not argue with a customer service agent for a refund. I went through that on a daily basis when I worked in retail and making entitled customers satisfied was a miserable part of my profession. I will not do that to another person if I can help it.
I have found in my 20 yrs in retauil that the one time exception just makes that customer try again and again, even emboldens them to be more entitled in their thinking. My fav line is "well they did it for me last time" which I have no way to prove and 9 times out of 10 they are lying to try and get their way.. I am constantly telling my bosses that by giving into them 'we" are creating the entitled customers we all hate so much. Mt GF hates shopping with me, because my biggest pet peeve is customers that don't put things back where they got it from when they decide they don't want it. I can't go off on them when I see them do it at our stores, but off the clock, in other stores, I totally let them know, which embarrasses my GF to no end, LOL
I never purchase anything at DAZ midnight because in my experience here the change over usually comes with lots of glitches, but I do check out the store first thing when I wake up
That's good. I would be...let's say, not overly pleased if that happened to me. ;) Thank you very much, I'm glad you like it! I'm thinking about getting into 3D again, but I will say, the changes here are a bit discouraging.
I also stop everything to check DAZ at exactly update time every single night. I even did it during my breaks from 3D because I wanted to see if anything would show up that I HAD to have. :)
