3delight Progressive OFF render cause strange noize? (ds 4.7 and 4.8) (solved)

plase compare two pic. (and please forget about hand made tan mask or chararcter shape
or I miss modified hair opacity map around top etc,, if you feel it is not good or strange ,,):)

one is progressive "on" spiral
another is progressive "off"
then please check around "sora hair" pinc accessory.

I only change the setting of progressive with 3delight. other render setting is perfeclty same.

I find this problem after I update ds to 4.6 or 4.7 I do not remember clear.

because,, before with my AMD and MY pc I could not 3delight render with progressive on well.

usually ds show me some erroer message, and daz do not confirm there is problem at least about final render pic,
but I see topic about the difference when progressive "on" and "off"
there is clear difference about rendered pic.so that I hoped to use progressive ON. but I could not.

In the end , I never use progressive render for my final render.

but after daz update ds to 4.6 4.7 etc,, when I set progressive ON in 3delight,
it do not cause erroer message etc. then sometimes I use it to test render.
but usually I forget it, then keep progressive off for final render.

(Usually I just use render pic with small size, for my blog etc
so that not concern much about render detail etc, it is me ^^;)

nowdays I sometimes find some strange box or mark about detail, and I could not find way to remove it from my render pic.

I thought it should be shading rate, or some shader setting problem or some light seting problem.

but today I test render with progressive "ON" it seems well for my puropse. then stop render,
and now I need to finish my render, then "progressive OFF" for finial render.

progressive OFF cause strange box (line) about some part,, then I compare the pic with progressive "on" and "off"
it is really odd for me,, now, I may better to use "progressive on" for final render too?

it is not about this render, actually I sometimes felr same thing,,
when I set progressive on it remove some strange effect from my render pic.. (usually some like mozaic line around mesh)
but I could not believe it, and not compared them.

========================
I add one more pic. it is two layer progressive ON and OFF in GIMP
the top layer is progressive OFF second layer is ON. then I substract two layer image.

it is same angle , same gamma save render setting. (shading rate etc)
Now you should see dot light edge line which caused by Progressive OFF.

    Ringing Artifacts;
    -> In the "Render Settings" lower the Pixel Filter Width

    To expand on this. Try doing one of these 3 things.

    Set pixel filter to box and width|height to 1x1 (no filtering, less taxing on system)

    Set pixel filter to gaussian and width|height to 2.5x2.5 (blurring filter, good for getting a draft of volumetrics and complex shadows, little more taxing)

    Set pixel filter to Sinc and width|height to 8.0x8.0 (sharpening filter, best filter to use for final render, very taxing)

    and make sure pixel filter width height match.

    Ah,, I see. thank you milghost.
    and thanks guide of pixel filter and width lorde5656. (yes I have learend so and tweaked them ^^;
    but my brain seems not keep it )

    it seems reason of the effect with progressive "off"

    though I do not know clear , when I use progressive ON,
    why it can remove "Ringing Artifacts".
    progressive render ignore pixel filter setting? :roll:

    when I use progressive render ON,
    As default, these values turn as hidden properties in ds 4.7 or higher.
    (I did not check ” show hidden property” about render setting ^^;)
    then I did not tweak it .(actually I perfeclty forget these setting :red:)
    I seems change the value for test etc, then forget it .

    I remember,, about ds 4.5 or more lower version, when I use progressive render "on"
    ds often send erroer message, and force to change pixel filter as "box"
    with my video card (or any other reason,, I do not know)
    . so that I did not use progressive render with ds 4.5.

    then about many case,,
    I may just use default 6 *6 pixel filter width, for pixel filter "sync"
    with progressive "off" it is OK?

    anyway, I re-try same scene. then check it.” thank you much:)

    ========================================
    Oh thank you,, now my actor not show such artifact line any more ^^
    har bikkini and sholder line is sharp and clean,, I think.. :coolsmile:(foolish?)

    NO,, unfortunately,, it seems still there ^^; with sync and pixel filter widht 6 * 6 progressive off,
    i may try again,, with 8 * 8 or more if I need?

    (last)
    finally, the setting pixel filter width seems remove most of my problem. thank you.
    I felt, it still remain tiny strong dot,, but may difficult to see it. and most of dot line seems removed.
    thank you both.

    try gaussian 2.5x2.5

    and I am not sure about setting Sinc over 8x8. Could work, could crash. I got those exact numbers from a different forum about completely different software that used the renderman engine as well.

    Progressive rendering is locked to 'Box' filtering...that's the difference.
