(SOLVED) Poses for G8M on G8F figure without cross-figure?
Hi,
I am trying to figure out how to use Genesis 8 MALE poses on a Genesis 8 FEMALE character without having to use cross-fit.
The character is already made and uses https://www.daz3d.com/she-orc-for-genesis-8-female so I can't just start with a base male-model and cross-fit it to be female-looking.
It is driving me nuts that I have to navigate through so many "feminine" poses with the hip up in the air and the booty out when there are numerous male poses that work fantastically for her.
I've looked at some tutorials but nothing seems to be quite what I'm looking for - is there an easy way that I'm missing to just apply gen8 male poses to a gen8 female figure?
Thanks!

Poses for G8M should just work on G8F. Have you tried just applying them yet?
I have, and I get an error "An error occurred while reading the file, see the log file for more details"
The log file reads
2022-03-04 11:23:18.810 Invalid node selection for "preset_pose" type.
2022-03-04 11:23:18.810 Error loading asset: A:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/AllFiles/people/genesis 8 male/poses/3d sugar/between gods/michael 8/between gods michael 8 18.duf
2022-03-04 11:23:18.810 Operation failed
But there is no issue loading the asset if I have a male figure right there.
It must be something I'm doing wrong though if it should just apply normally...
Invalid node selection implies that the wrong item is selected in the scene. Make sure it is the base figure.
The poses work on my system, but I am a little behind on the version. There is no explicit reference in the pose file about which figure it applies to, just a generic selection, unless something has changed in how the poses are targeted.
BTW, cross-fit is for conforming items like clothing, nothing to do with poses or shapes of the base figure.
Seems odd. I've never had any trouble using male poses for female figures or vice versa. It may have something to do with the way those particular poses were created. Does it work with the poses that come with the Genesis 8 Starter Essentials or with other poses that were not created for Michael or other named figures?
Same, exept for hierarchial poses, which do require the correct base figure.
I appreciate you all helping me!
I loaded a fresh female 8.1 figure with no edits/changes and tried to apply a male pose to it, making sure it wasn't for michael etc
Unfortunately got the same thing

Are you SURE that you have the figure selected in the viewport and/or the Scene tab? I just tried that exact pose on Genesis 8.1 Female. It worked for me. When I deselected the figure and tried again, I got that exact error.
So, what I have to do is drag the pose on to the figure. If I select the figure in viewport, all the pose options disappear except the ones specficially for the female model. Is there a way to avoid that? (thank you again for the help sooo much)
Okay, so I'll bet you are using the Smart Content window with Filter by Context selected. The male poses are not usually defined to work with the female figures (and vice versa), so they will not display without some tweaking (but that's more advanced). Deselect "Filter by Context" and go to the G8 male poses of your choice (easier to find in Product view), and apply them as you like. The G8 female figure (or any other, for that matter) needs to remain selected so that the pose file knows what to act upon.
You could do the same in the Content Library from the folder where the poses were installed (i.e., DAZ Studio Formats\[yourlibraryname]\People\Genesis 8 Male\Poses\...). That is a direct link to the file system, whereas Smart Content is virtual (metadata database stuff).
Oh! That worked! Holy hell I can't believe that it was that easy!! I had no idea that silly little filter was preventing me from selecting both the figure and the pose!
Thank you SO SO Much!!!
