So I got Asteria The Fallen Star and it says there is a way to plug in a star map into another object to give it a star vibe..
. Plug the included star map into the Ambient channel in DAZ Studio or the Translucence channel in Poser to give your favorite outfits or hair a starry glow.
Is what it says.
I don't understand how to do this.
I see the translucency plug in thing but I don't know HOW to add the map...
POSER Obviously.

Go the the advanced material room. Select from the drop downs what you want to apply the map to. Right click on and select create new node. Load the bonus 2 star map image into the new node. Wire the new node to the translucency channel.

I tried to create a new node but it does nothing. I clicked 'create new node' five times and absolutely nothing happens. There is no new node...
and I mean by the way that when I right click and t hen on 'new node...' I click the bolded 'new node' and then absolutely nothing happens.
    edit:
I made it an image map and tried to plug it into anything that said translucency...and it doesn't show up at all.

Do you have the object you want to apply the image map to selected from the drop down in the advanced material room?

Do you have the material zone you want to apply the image map to selected from the material drop down in the advanced material room?

Make sure you have the object ( load Roxie Casual into the view port. Go to the object drop down and select jeans from the list) selected and the mat zone (to the material zone drop down and select fabric for the jeans).

Right click and select new node. You will get a second fly out for the new node. Go to down to 2D textures in the new node list and select image map. This will give you a new node that is not wired into the material room set up. If you click the closed eye, you will see the node is blank. Click on image source on the blank node and browse to find the the texture you want. Click ok when you have found it. The image map should be showing in the node instead of a white square. Run a wire from the translucency channel to the new image node. You should also wire the translucency value channel to the node. Adjust the color of translucency channel and translucency values until you get something you like. Unless the vendor gives you specific setting for these, you will have experiment. Much of this will depend on the material you are adding it to and your lighting set up.

Likely the reason you are not creating a new node is that you aren't telling the material room what type of node it should create. In this case you want: New Node>2D Textures>Image map.

That is exactly what I did, except for the color part...I don't know what I did wrong.
I don't know what you mean by 'translucency channel' either. Here is the pic of what I did.
Is ti because I didn't set the value high enough..?
Keep in mind that I don't know much about the advanced material room.
    I don't use it a lot.
So this is what I tried to do.
I applied this node to every zone after this. Then I test are rendered it in my usual settings. There was no difference.
I even tried using the second map it came with; there are two. this one, and then LG when I assumed meant large...

Translucense won't do much unless there's light on the other side. You might do better to follow the DS suggestion and connect to Ambient (which should work better in Poser than in DS, since in DS ambient and diffuse are multiplied together).

Is there anything specific I should set the ambience as..?

Change the Ambient colour to white and plug the map into it, that should give a "glowing" start pattern - it won't actually emit light, though, unless you use the indirect lighting render mode.

Will I get a preview of this on the mat pic or will I have to render it to see that it's worked?
    edit:
I just checked and there's something already plugged into the ambient section, and when I turn it white, it turns the wings white more or less...

What are you trying to achieve? You should be able to blend the existing ambient input with the new map, if that will do what you want.

I just want to make the black wings have the starry glows on it.

Please post a screenshot showing the current inputs to the Ambient colour.
