Title says it all, but I love this and all the modular parts and options

... The bad: I'm sorry but at 20%, I'm not purchasing - not saying I would at 30% (in fairness), but 20 is a definate NO.

That's a gorgeous prop, but $26 for it -- with a 20 percent discount -- is a big no. Yeah, I realize the artist spent a long time modeling it, but I spend five months writing a book and I still charge $6 a copy. Which is way too low, but $26 is way too high. Daz is getting greedy. I'm beginning to resent it, especially since 4.20 is so bug ridden I ain't going to touch it. And the argument that it's all Nividia's fault is BS. If it was Nvidia's fault, the damn ghost lights would have stopped working when I updated my driver.

    You were sloppy.

I've been a customer since Mike 2. This is ridiculous. You've even started gouging on Daz + items. If you think I'm paying $18 for a Daz+ item, you're crazy. I don't care how nice it is. Just no.

And the bundles suck now. The last really good one was Torment. You can't claim one damn costume is a bundle by breaking out the accessories and charging $4 per shoe. Again, we are not stupid.

...for the money spent, the last really good bundle value in my view was the Young Teens5 Pro Bundle.   Two characters, assorted appropriate clothing for each, poses, expressions, character morphs for each, and hair for each.  Probably the most useful bundle I ever purchased after to the Aiko 3 and Vicky 4.2 Pro Bundles.

Nonsense, drivers may break Iray if they have a bug and Iray certainly has minumum requirements, but the rendering is all coded in Iray which the GPU (or CPU) then executes. The changes - not, sadlu, bugs - in the interaction between opacity and lunimosity and in the behaviour of thin film are delberate actions by the Iray developers.

Those are exclusive items for Daz+ members, not "standard" Daz+ items - they are in addition to the standard items, not repalcements for them.

The clothing bundles are not, as far as I can tell, offered as replacements for the Name 8.1 themed bundles - and some people like beign able to mix-and-match the parts. if they end up making the composite sets unattractive for you that is a shame, if you would otherwise have found them attractive, but they are in a different niche to the named character sets.

In any event, this is a total side issue to commenting on the promo image - if you wish to discuss DS or sales strategies please take that to a sutiable thread rather than disrupting this one.

Personally, I think it's worth the cash without the discount, although - as I haven't a huge need for it - I doubt I'd buy it; I like it enough that with the right price I would purchase - so eventually it will get to a price I'm happy to pay: at least I presume it will!

Pricing of things like books and Daz Studio props depends a lot on the market. If there is a large enough market then selling it cheaper means you sell more and make more money. There is a huge market for books so you can set your price at $6 and hope to sell a lot of copies, There are fewer people buying Daz Studio props so they have to set the price higher to earn a living. The reason that applications like Maya and 3D Studio Max are so expensive isn't because they are so much epensive to make, it's because they are selling to a small market of professional users.

I am hesitating at the price of this but it looks like a wonderful set. PW make some great stuff and the promo renders are excellent. It looks like an imaginitive design very well made. I expect I will buy it.

I don't understand the moaning here. It is a big set with plenty of rooms to set up plenty of scenes. Also if the price is too high just stick it on the wish list and wait for it to come up in a sale.

I often use the wish list like . A year or so ago the "Hacenda Kitchen" came out. I tought it was great but didn't have the money at the time, and it didn't fit with anything that I was then working on, so it went on the wish list. This morning it was offered at 82% off, and at that price I grabbed it.

those exclusive DAZ+ items need to go away. I think most of us join DAZ+ to save money, not spend more on "exclusive" items . Put them in the regular rotation and allow everyone to buy them. The PA will make more too.

I think it can feel frustrating to make choices now that we can just buy everything on release day. But I think it might be a smarter way to work. I often have 3 projects that I never get to. If would have waited until the project was active, I probably would have paid much less or not purchased at all. The problem with this approach is finding the assets you need two years after you have seen the product you need. I can't remember it's name and  it rare has keywords that would lead me back to it. For instance I can never remember what this is called.

And then there is a nother similar product that I couldn't find to save my life.

You may not want them, but that doesn't mean no-one does. As for the PA, they have already been paid - these are Daz buyouts, offered to Daz+ members only.

Nice that we get both inside and outside.

Awful promos. This over-reliance on gloss and reflection makes it unnecessarily hard to judge the geometry and actual shape of that thing.

Agreed, some flat, clay renders would really help see what the customer is getting.

Pricewise? I think it's acceptable, on par with a Stonemason set, even cheaper than many. The problem there is that this is more of a niche item and not as usable in general as a lot of other sets. You're basically getting 12 rooms/sets inside a spaceship, less than $3.00 a room. I'm not in the need for this at the moment, and I don't like iRay on a  good day, but if I *did* need an alien spaceship/environment set for a story, I wouldn't hesitate at full price.

Thanks for pointing it out. It looks beautiful and went straight to my wishlist. I don’t even look at the 20% off sections. I’m guessing PAs may think we’re being cheap when we complain about prices after they put in so much work but they have to realize that many of us already own like 10 spaceships and it takes more of an incentive to buy an 11th one no matter how beautiful it is.

I saw the UFO Starship Class product today and it is a nice product.  I agree that many of the promos do overuse a dark and glossy look.  PW UFO Abduction class was released in early January 2019 and it is a very similar product AND currently on sale for $11.98 (52% off).  I bought UFO Abduction class a few days after it was released in 2019; it was at a 30% discount then.  When I saw today's Starship Class item, I decided to compare it to the 2019 Abduction Class.  The look in the promo images for the two are similar.  In my opinion, there's not that much of an evolution from the Abduction Class to the Starship Class.

My issue with PW props...I can't render them with characters.

The props use too much memory...

I only have a 12gig titan, so if I add one character, it goes to CPU render, and so. I never use these props, for...anything.

I just realized I have 2 other UFO products from this same PA purchased in 2019 for $7.48 and $6.14. (Too lazy to do the math to figure out the actual discount lol.) Still haven’t used either one of them. That’s the thing, if something has a big discount many will buy it whether they need it or not. I haven’t used most of my content yet but I purchased on a great discount thinking I’ll use it some day. With lower discounts, there’s no incentive to buy anything at all because I probably already have something similar or if I really need it some day immediately, paying full price over a 20% off discount is not a big deal.

Well, parts of the Starship Class version give me more a feel of a luxury cruise ship or space-yacht. It's spacious enough, that with a bit of futuristic furniture and maybe some custom morphs, it'd definitely be convertible to that. Just add a crew that all looks like Princess Stephanie. (no prize for correctly guessing the reference I'm afraid)

True.  Like many things in life, it's a matter of taste and perspective.  Like others, I have several of certain types of products - "alien" craft is one such type.  Buying is the "easy part; I need to start using the thousands of items that I have acquired in the past 15 years.  Now that I've retired, I've slowly begun to do that.  I've always been a hobbyist at this stuff.

Thanks for that; missed that item, and yeh I see some similarities.

    Still an excellent item though.
