Was it too much effort?

Is it just me who had the expectation of getting a new gorgeos female character for international women's day?

No you're not the only one.
Wasn't it this time last year they gave Mabel 8 away free? Or was that the year before? I can't quite remember.
p.s. They say the memory is the first thing to go. I can't remember the second thing ....
Considering how much effort "gorgeous" takes I'm not sure it would have been the ideal look for IWD anyway.
Thank you! And yes, I would have been disappointed to see yet-another-bombshell-no-actual-human-woman-could-hope-to-look-like released on IWD.
But I recognize someone at the top of the store page today! (Hint: She's in my avatar... :D)
I'm not sure what Alienarea intended, but my naive mind would like to think they were meaning 'gorgeous' in the sense of just a wonderful new woman, made with love and care by a hopefully female PA. We did get one G8F, but I too was expecting more. In fact, how cool would a whole set of women of different ethnicities, sizes, shapes, periods etc. be for IWD? The landscape sets are cool and all, and there's a donation bin too... but I can't say they really bring to mind strong women.
In fact, I'd almost argue that having a Hotel Restaurant being the big spotlight 'free' item is... odd. I'm coming fresh from a uni degree here, so this is the critial essay part of me talking, but there might be some correlation between whoever does marketing seeing international women's day, and thinking, hmmm, well they can be taken out to a restaurant! Ladies like that right?
Not saying that's wrong, just a thought, but would've been cool to have the free item be, heck I dunno, a power suit? Some executive poses and props? Non-sexy armour?
But maybe Alienarea did want a buxom lady with skimpy promos, in which case nvm
I like your idea of a set of different ethnicities, shapes, sizes...and ages! Also, I would have been down for say...a tribute to our newest supreme court nominee here in the US which is truly awesome to think about on a day to celebrate women...not to mention coming out of Black History Month.
When she says that she will be ready in fifteen minutes, there is no need to remind her every half hour.
Do we have any aged black women in the store? I'd love a link to one, my runtime is missing them completely. And unforunately, most ageing products are gearded more toward white people, and sometimes aging up black characters with it looks... strange.
There may be others, but Nida 8 is a Daz core figure -

I don't think there are any for G8.1.
Who is your avatar? Lovely character!
Would have been the perfect time for a new international texture or ethnic head morph bundle, but sure, a restaurant and a drop off bin will work too.
Thank you! She's a custom dial-spun character.
Thanks!
I've had numerous requests for my characters...though I can't (and won't) share my dial-spun ladies, I've given thought about making some characters for sale with merchant resources I've picked up.
There are plenty of gorgeous babes, I could really use an ELDERLY female. Not OLD, but ELDERLY.
No worries, I wasn't asking! Maybe you should think about selling them at some point though :)
Oh pfpfpfpf I can't believe I forgot about Nida :0 I do like her, though I remember not quite falling in love with the skin when rendering her. Either way, thanks for reminding me :)
As for g8.1 .... (hint hint Daz :D)
I don't own Nida, but her skin I believe can be improved greatly with some easy tweaks.
I’m not sure I understand this statement. Effort to create a gorgeous character or effort to be a gorgeous woman? I don’t know why there is so much anymosity toward beautiful women in the forums. Agreed some women have plastic surgery but others are born that way and are human beings just like anyone else on the inside and often not taken seriously just because of the way they look. As far as character creation, it is much harder to create a beautiful character than an ordinary one and I applaud PAs like Mousso who know how to do it well. Hating beautiful women for the looks they were born with is just as bad as judging people for the color of their skin and very petty. And if a woman makes an effort to make herself look better, there’s nothing wrong with that either. It just shows she cares about herself and is a good thing.
Beauty is in the eye of the holder, so it would have not appealed to some.
I have no use for another pretty white girl, would love Mrs. Dolb, or a Pathfinder style female goblin. ;)
Most of the older women in my runtime are Asian. At one time exclusively Asian, and it was remarked that in my DAZ world you needed to be Asian to make it past 40! I now also have a couple of older white ones so African would be a great addition.
No, I have too many buxom ladies already.
Your initial thoughts were fine.
March 9 2021 was the day
Now an IWD staff picks bundle has been added, or was it there before and I somehow didn't see it? Seems like a very, very expensive way to celebrate to me.
It's definitely not JUST as bad.
So I can pay $148 for 1 character I don't already own in the previous bundles. We are obviously not seeing how much new traffic is coming in from the discord endeavour.
It does discount for owned items lol
No, it's definitely not. And beautiful women are elevated everywhere you look...to the point where young girls continue to grow up with the misguided belief they aren't good enough simply because they can't look like airbrushed models or like the over-filtered influencers they worship. Young girls like my beautiful teenage niece, and beautiful by even mainstream standards, who nearly died this past year from an eating disorder she'll struggle with for the rest of her life.
PS - There is nothing wrong with being beautiful, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and varies by culture. And there is a giant difference between being born beautiful and elevating fake, unattainable beauty that does not exist in nature.

PerttiA - ah thanks so I did remember it right
