Studio 4.7 serial number confusion question.

I'm setting up my new Dell XPS 8700 (Windows 7 Pro) which has never had any version of DAZ Studio on it.
I just installed 4.7 and when I went to use it I it asked for a serial number...
I don't recall Studio ever doing that on my Mac... Maybe a long time ago, perhaps when 3 or 4 first came out?
I'm pretty sure when I installed 4.7 on my wife's laptop (which also never had any version of DS on it before), that I was not asked for a serial number... Perhaps, but I'm pretty sure about this...
So I go and look for the serial for 4.7... But the are only ones for other older versions... No 4.7
So I look this up here and I see that at least one person asked this question too, and the answer is to just use your 4.6 serial number...
Fine... So I look it up and I see that I have three 4.6 serial numbers (which is why I think I would have remember this if it happened before)...
I only ever downloaded 4.6 once and that was for my Mac... I suppose I could check that copy to see what the number is...
4.7 on the laptop was removed by a crash, so I can't check that even if I did get a serial number...

My guess is you get a 4.6 serial for 4.7?
So one 4.6 is the 4.6 on the Mac...
One 4.6 is the 4.7 that got deleted when the laptop crashed...
And the remaining 4.6 is the 4.7 I just installed?

Okay... That sounds logical... Not really, but I get that stuff happens and whatnot...

Anyway... looking at the list, there seems to be no date order to how they are listed... Programs from different years are all mixed up.

Does any of this matter?
Do I just use any old 4.6 serial or just give up and go outside and have beer with the neighbor's cat?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Just use the latest 4.6 one (or any one afaik). You can use it without a serial in some cases, but it is not the 'Pro' version that you get with all the added extras when you do that.

The serials appear to be in date order for me, the last thing bought is at the bottom (Architools in my case.)

You need to use the serial number named DAZ Studio 4.6. If you use DIM it automatically installs all your serial numbers.

I've set up on a new PC recently, I have some stupid number of different serials all for 4.6 (no idea how) but inputting the serial in daz does nothing. It is pro without putting in serial, and when I entered serial it seems to think I never did. So unregistered for me (apparently) but it is indeed pro with all the features. I assumed they didn't require serial anymore lol

Edit: oh that must be why... Lol thanks for the info Frank

I did use DIM... I installed it before Studio... Should I uninstall DS and reinstall it?

Also it says in the registry window "The indicator above the field will change to reflect whether the serial number is valid"...
But it gives the yellow check (valid) mark with any of the three I have...

I love confusing stuff like this... Makes the brain cells grow... It makes others commit suicide, but some get stronger...

Any DS 4 serial number will work - you want the one starting SDZSPRO-040 if you had a paid-for version of Pro, or SDZFPRO-040 if you have only the free version (the difference is that the former will activate Decimator, the latter won't).

Thank you, I eventually used the one at the bottom of the screen, hoping that it would be the most current... but it is good to know that any of the 4.6 serials will work...
I got it working... it seems to be running as 4.7 Pro... It says 4.7 Pro, so I'm guessing everything is working right.
    Thanks for the help everyone!
