I have windows 8.1, it's a new pc and I've just now installed Pegasus Modeler 2.0. Before the answer is "Go buy the new version" I cannot afford to right now.
Here's the problem. It's installed if I run it not as admin it crashes. While it's running as admin the viewport area will turn white for no apparent reason. I attempted to find updates and it says out of memory. I know it's not MY memory because I have a 1tb hd and 8gb of ram.
I can't view the help or anything else the screen goes white. I can import the model and that's as far as I can get in.

I've also set the compatibility to win 98 and that hasn't helped either

I do not have Pegasus and the is just a general observation and recommendation. With each new version of Windows since Vista the UAC has become more 'paranoid'. My solution is to simply not install to the Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder. You still need to install as administrator and run the program the first time as administrator to insure the registry is set properly but after that the program usually works fine without starting as admin.

It's not Win 8 compatible, neither is 3.0, according to the product pages. I did a test install of 3.0 in Win 8.1 but haven't done any serious work with it. I recall I imported the V4 mesh and played a bit with it, and that seemed to work allright.

I have the problem with the viewport going white also though (when clicking on different functions), but it comes back if I click on it, so though it's annoying it's not a show stopper. Check for Updates doesn't seem to do anything, Help opens a PDF help file.

I'm always logged in as admin and have turned off UAC completely (requires manual registry editing, doing it from Control Panel only does not turn it off completely in Win 8, like it does in Win 7). So I haven't had any problems with Pegasus in that respect.

BTW, I recall I had problems with either 2.0 or 3.0 (or maybe both) in Win 7, couldn't get it to work at all. 2.0 worked fine in XP though, on the same machine. I suspect it has someting to do with the graphics drivers.

I remember with Vista I had to work with the vendor to get it to work. Not sure what the deal is, and yeah I said win 8 but it's been updated to 8.1. I might try installing it on my external and see if that helps. I ended up installing Hex again which works ok
Before i try that I'll mess with the UAC and see how that works. I changed the run as admin in the properties since I set it to 98 Compatibility might try XP. It's kind of crazy that I have a really decent gaming vid card with updated drivers and a simple program has issues with it, but I seem to recall having to mess with the NVIDIA control panel settings on my old Vista PC to get it to work.
