Daz3d rendering boost up the GPU Clock over the factory Mhz is it normal?

Hello,

I got a new RTX 3050 card and noticed, if I rendering the GPU Clock is higher than card reference. The card core clock is 1.777 Mhz but during rendering the clock is going up to 1.912 Mhz or above. Is this normal?

Thanks.

It depends on your specific make/model of 3050.

ASUS, MSI etc. all have overclocked versions in their ranges of 3050 cards that reach around 1900MHz.

It's a Gigabyte RTX 3050 Eagle not the OC from factory. The Core speed should be 1.777 Mhz from factory. I did'nt changed anything, the card is 1 week old.

Those numbers look OK, in fact you've got room to push the card further if you want to! devil

These days a GPU knows what it's maximum Wattage and temps. are and knows how to modify it's frequencies etc. to stay within the limits.

If you're worried about the numbers look a bit further down the sensors list, it will list the reason the GPU has hit it's limit.

    Thanks, I will check it.

here is the full report during rendering a 3840 x 2160 pixels size pic... is this ok?

    Yes, that's OK.

VRel is the GPU stepping in and deciding that this is the max. stable voltage it can regulate. The GPU is doing it's regulating correctly.

At only 63degrees It has plenty of headroom for temp. and lots of extra fan speed available if needed.

The fastest 3050 have been reported around 2200MHz so that 1900MHz suggests a bit more potential too! Which is what I meant by, 'you could push it further'!

GPU stats look fine to me. Your GPU temperature is not hot. VRel is the "normal" rendering PerfCap Reason. CPU is a little warm, but certainly not anywhere near a level for concern. System Memory Used is nearly maxed out. Do you have only 24 GB DRAM in your computer? Are you running a bunch of other things besides Daz Studio at the same time?

Yes I have 24 GG Ram. Mostly internet browser, and sometimes photoshop at the same time with Daz...

Yesterday I run Furmark test for 1 hour without any issue. After stoping it I wanted to check the GPU with GPU-Z. The card was recognized, but couldn't read out the details of it like clock speed, temp and so on... now I am rendering withot any issue.

Congrats because you got a nice one. All recent GPU/CPU have auto-boost technology embededed into them to boost clock automatically as long as thermal allows. It's not unusal for some to be able to boost higher than others. OEM usually sort the chips internally and sell the lots that can boost higher as factory overclock but not all lots are uniform espeically in early batches.

Yeah but I have issue with the card...

    - just starting the system doing nothing randomly the GPU Fan speed up and I got black screen
    - I am starting to render after several iterations the process stop and freez everything
    - just looking the viewport in Nvidia Iray moving the camera and freez everything

Thle last few days I rendered more scenes without any issue.

Yesterday I run the Furmark test for an hour without any problem, after stoped it the GPU-Z found the GPU but can't show the details...

I am using the latest game driver. Tryed the latest studio driver everything was the same.

I am running Daz 4.14 Pro.

The card isn't overheated at the moment when fan starts to work full speed.

    Has anybody any idea? Thanks.

Have you tried it with the Beta?

How old and what kind PSU do you have? Ampere GPU have problems with many PSU in how it draws power when auto-boost. I had similar symptoms with a top of the line Seasonic 750W PSU and MSI 3090 Ventus. It can be avoided with a compatible new PSU (don't buy it now because we are transitioning to a new ATX power standard and new products won't appear until 2H'22), a PSU far exceeding power requirement of the GPU, or undervolt the GPU.

Are you running Windows 11 with undervolt AMD CPU? Widnows 11 is not compatible with undervolt AMD CPU and will result in random BSOD.

I have a 600W PSU Akyga ATX AK-P3-600 it's 6-7 years old.I am running Windows 10 and Intel CPU. But this fan spinning 100% happens sometimes just in stand by too. Doing nothing with the computer and oense the GPU start to cooling with full speed...

the newest thing, doing nothing with the computer, no daz3d no gaming and the fans starting to rev full speed and get black screen.

  • i53570ki53570k Posts: 212

If PC has no activitiy and card just rev up to BSOD then something is probably wrong with it. Can you still return/exchange it since it's only a week old?

Are you sure the PC has no activitiy when the GPU fan revs up? There could be a crypto mining malware.

That does sound like hardware failure.

A program called 'GPU Caps' (get it from geeks3d) can list the programs accessing the GPU.

So it looks I found the solution. I reinstalled everything Windows, Daz, drivers but the problem was still there. As a last try I bought a new PSU a 750W 80 Plus bronze typ. Since yesterday I didn't have any crash, rendering going great. I hope it will work from now.

Thanks guys for the responses and advices.
