Error Loading Asset?

Hey all,

Whenever I try to load a scene (through File>Open, or double clicking the file), I get "Error opening file".

The log file reads the following:

2022-03-09 23:10:50.202 [INFO] :: Viewport redraw unlocked.

If anyone could please give me any information on why this is happening or how to fix it. I can't work out anything from the log file aside from "error loading asset" crying

Some extra information: Daz Studio 4.20 Pro, NVIDIA Geforce RTX2070, Intel Core i7-9700

Do you have an archive tool that can check for errors (e.g. 7Zip)? If so, right-click on the .duf file and select the Test Archive option.

Did you run out of storage space when you saved the file?

I gave this a go. It says "cannot open file as archive."

    Please don't say it's a corrupted file...?

I had a look, my file space is still good, with a about 300gb on the disk.

This was testing the .duf file, not the PNG? What happens if you drag it into a text editor - Notepad would do: do you get text or random-looking symbols?

Yes, it was the .duf file.

Opening it on notepad only gets a few symbols, but it was also a very long and empty document. I also tried it on notepad++, and that got mostly "nuls". I attached two pictures to show what I saw.

So it is compressed. Try uncompressing it with the Batch Convert pane in Daz Studio.

"Cannot open file as archive" and this very long sequence of "nul" is a clear indication: The file is corrupt and its content (the actual .DUF file in the archive) is lost.

When I try uncompressing it, I get this following error:

2022-03-11 10:23:36.308 [INFO] :: Error converting the following files:
    G:/Daz3d/Studio/My Daz 3d Library/Scenes/My Scenes/S3.duf

However, I am able to compress it into a .tmp file?  But if I try to open the .tmp file with Daz, I get the same error from the beginning.

Have you tried decompressing the S3.duf with 7zip and then opening the decompressed file with notepad++?

Not the duf, but the decompressed file 7zip makes that won't have a file extension.

If you can open it with notepad++, then save it with a new file name and try to load it and see what happens.

Make a copy of your file and paste it to the desktop, or someplace to work without a lot of clutter.

If the new one works, then delete the old one.

Compressing an already compressed file that maybe corrupt can cause further damage. It won't fix anything.

If the file is filled with [Nul], no magic can recreate the original information anymore

Trying that will read "Cannot open file as archive"

I was hoping it wouldn't be true, but I think it's like most probably what most of you have said, the .duf file had most likely been corrupted. Thank you everyone for the suggestions and help. I really appreaciate it.

    I guess I'll now just
