Underwear visible beneath clothing, OR how to hide only part of a garment

I'm using this product (Formal MEGA Wardrobe for Genesis 8 Female(s) | Daz 3D), and some of the clothing items have a couple of things happen to them when loaded as part of one of the preset outfits, as opposed to loaded on their own.  This happens to the "upper" garments; the blouse, frilled blouse, wrapped blouse, and v-neck, but not the bodysuit and dress.  I'm focussing on the blouse, but this appears to be true of those other three as well.

The first thing that happens is that, at least for the blouse, the lower part of the item is invisible. (I know that the lower part is invisible rather than not existing at all, because each button on the blouse has a mini set of axes attached to it, and these mini axes are still visible in this case, and move as I adjust the various "Open" modifiers.)  This is presumably intentional, for the purpose of not having the lower part of the item overlap with, and be visible on top of, the lower garment in the outfit (the skirt or pants).

The second thing that happens, and the problem I'm having, is that some underwear items, specifically bras, are visible through the shirt, despite being inside of it.  This only happens for some underwear items (it does not happen for the G8 Basic Wear Bra, but it happens for the two other bras I have), and it only happens when the figure is viewed from certain angles.  The bra will appear and disappear beneath the shirt as I change the viewing angle.

Both of these effects appear to be a characteristic of the item's Material, as both will go away if I select the item and load one of the preset materials onto it - which I would otherwise expect to do nothing but change its color.  The underwear will be hidden as it should, but the invisible lower part of the shirt will be visible again.

What I am seeking is either a way to fix the underwear-visibility problem, or a way to replicate the bottom-hiding effect on a shirt that I have loaded on its own.  I'm more optimistic about the former, but I would also appreciate the latter if possible, as I expect it would be helpful in the future when trying to combine clothing items from different products (eg trying to tuck a shirt from one product into a skirt from another product).

Thanks. smiley

Is this in renders or only in preview? If there is transparency applied, even if it's only slight, that can badly throw soem preview Drawstyles.

  • It happens in both the main window and the Aux Viewport, but I just tried rendering the scene for the first time and the render looks normal.

It's a relief that I'm at least capable of creating images that look how they should; I'd still prefer if I could fix this however, as rendering takes over 8 minutes even for this simple figure with a handful of clothing items (its that normal?).  At this point I'm very much in the stage of messing around with things rather than creating finished image files, much less finished image files that I plan on sharing with anyone or anything, so it would be nice if what I was looking at looked passable.  Apart from testing to see what happens when I do, fixing this specific problem is basically the only reason I have to render anything right now, and again it takes several minutes, so I'd prefer not to have to do that every time I want to see the image properly.

You said that this could be because there is a "transparancy applied"; how would I find out whether that's the case, and possibly correct it if it is?  The only setting I'm aware of that might affect something like this is the "Cutout Opacity," which is set to is maximum value of 1.00.
