a video
it's weird as not an exact thirds by half division, there is a missed bit on the edge
I could not make a neat texture showing each face
OK I made an accurate one by baking colours to texture in Carrara using inagoni baker
sorry about my mouse writing ↓
still gets that strip on the right side
A quick way to select the faces of your high-resolution cube would be, with the Geometry Editor active
Yes! I was also starting to think along those lines so thank you for spelling it out for me.
Here's what wendy is talking about with the 3x2 uv.
The 'names' in each box are which 'view' each 'face' correlates to when default loaded.
Yep, thanks - I got that when Wendy posted the picture. Thankfully I don't have to figure out how to create a UV myself because, as Wendy mentioned, the Primitives come with a UV.
I think that you may have the front and back in the wrong places.
I see three islands in the UV map: an L shaped one that occupies the top left and lower 3 rectangles and correspond (going in anticlockwise order to top, front, right and back; plus two other islands in the top half: that are the bottom and left side as you show.
mmm maybe exporting the cube flipped it?
it seemed to work on one in D|S though as you can see in the video
If you watch your video, when the side marked left is on the left, the front of the cube shows as being marked with back.
Apologies to @marble for taking your thread into a side discussion.
my left yes not from the perspective of the cube, unless you are looking at it like a mirror
I looked again because I was seriously doubting myself
Ah, I see what you mean. I have been taking it that the front is the side facing the front camera, the left the side facing the left camera and so on.
I would like that add that I always appreciate the effort you put into explaining things in these forums.
No problem. These discussions are for everyone to learn from. That's the point of having a forum from my point of view.
