Layout does not save properly

Using Studio 4.20.0.2 and Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, I've noticed that the layout scheme doesn't save. I recall from another thread that sometimes Windows has an issue with setting the target folder or file to "read only," so I went to C:\Users\Me\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4 and found the layout file. It's okay.

However, the Studio4 folder is read-only and I can't reset it to being read-write. What's driving me nuts is that I just installed Windows 10 today on a brand new hard drive and it's already messing with me.

Any ideas how to handle this? Could I be looking at the wrong folder or file?

This is a known issue, discussed in the release therad among other places. The current public Build has a fix that seems to eb working, if that continues to be the case the General Release will probably be updated soon. In the meantime you can manually create the files used to save the session layout (as empty files) and DS will then be able to overwrite them on the exit.

    Possible solution:

Create these six files (just make normal text files and change the file extension):

    actions.dsx

    customactions.dsx

    layout.dsa

    layout.dsx

    menus.dsx

    toolbars.dsx

Close Daz and put all these empty files in

    C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4\

    C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4\user layouts

It should work then, although it did for me, YMMV

Not the .dsa file, just the .dsx files.

Oh, external, you delightfully devious devil, you. Worked for me, too. Consider yourself high-fived all to hell and back.

Okay. I got it! Thanks. It worked. I did overwrite my actions, but I needed to start over anyway. It was getting clunky.

    Thanks!!yes
