PA Sylvan Products Texture Problem

PA Sylvan's products "Complete Beauty Collection Boudoir" (ProdID 73269) and "Messy Vignette Bedroom" (ProdID 80773) store their textures in the same directory (/runtime/textures/sylvan/) without any further distiction between products. Both products have some books (and other items) in them that share the same names, without being intended to use the same textures (see picture for example).

I already contact the help deak, but I expect to get a answer that I got for a similiar ticket before, that DAZ would not tell the PA's which format for packaging they were supposed to use. So this problem might or not be solved in the future, especially as both are not new, but older products. So this is just an information to possible buyers of these products that there's something wrong with them.

Please don't attach texture files to your posts.

Well, than I use a screenshot from within DAZ instead, okay?

  • ah. An easy fix. I'm sure as soon as Sylvan knows they'll fix it. They're a somewhat new PA . And those are really cool sets. :)

I understand your point, and I am sure Sylvan will act about this but the products are working fine. That's wrong to say otherwise.

When loading any book from these sets it comes with only one texture, already applied, that's why there are so many of them (for diversity) I believe. So I am afraid if you want a choice of textures for any of these books you'll have to make your own smiley.

I saw the post before the texture pics for removed. What OP is asking is for Sylvan to create subfolders for their folder, in the Textures folder to prevent any risk of overwriting image files in the future. The ones that were shown were called "Book4.png" and "Book04.png." There's only so many combinations of that, that it'll eventually cause a mix up.

I don't have them but are they actually overwriting anything?

or is this just a complaint about their folder choices tooking untidy because I have seen much worse by other PAs with things littering up my library in places they really shouldn't be, the runtime textures folder is chockablock fulll of loose files by several PAs

Thank you @MimicMolly OK got it.blush

Checked with the DIM package and found the one that disappeared. Sorry, misunderstood.

For recent products I own there is a folder per product. Sylvan is very professionnal and I am sure she will fix this as soon as she can.

Thanks for reaching out! I'm going to send in a fix. I can't say how fast DAZ manages to release the fix, so keep an eye out on your DIM updates :) Apologies for the inconvenience!

No problem. Those sets are really nice, and it's only a minor inconvenience, but if further textures with similiar names would get added to the same directiory in the future by future products it might have grown into a real problem wink

I attempted to fix it on my install myself, but with all the different items and materials for them the work to unzip the .duf files and editing them turned out to be a real boring task.
