Hi,
I'm running DS version 4.15.0.2 64
DS splash screen comes up, goes through all of the motions until it gets to creating window.
A white flash, no window, then the normal screen comes up about connecting but no window to work in.
If I "close window" (even though it is not visible) DS asks if I want to save but still no window.
any advice is truly appreciated.

Do you have two (or more) active displays?
Hi Richard,
Yes, I am running 2 monitors.
Is that the problem?

It can cause issues, especially if their relationship has changed since the last run. You could create a shortcut for launching Daz Studio, then edit its properties to add the options to give it a different isntacne name and to start clean as listed here Daz Studio Pro 4.12 - instances - that should avoid any issues such as remembering a no longer available location.
Hi Richard,
Thanks so much for the valuable info.
So if I do the instance name will that restore it now or is that only for future?

I have two monitors and never have an issue. Have you just updated your gfx drivers or has Windows had an update?
One thing that works for me when Daz does odd things like this is checking my task maner. Sometimes Daz will still show as running in task manager even if it's closed and restarted. Closing it out in task manager often fixes it. If not, the old standby of simply restarting your computer is the go to first step in a lot of tech support for a reason.
It's test - if this works then the issue is related to the layout in some way, if not then it's probably something else. If it is the layout we can just clear that from your main instance, but that is a bit drastic to do if the issue is elsewhere.
Do you have a third monitor that is plugged in, but not currently on? If so just turn on that third monitor and DAZ will be there, I used to have this problem frequently in that situation. It was because I had moved the strand hair editor to the third monitor because it's a pen tablet, and closed it there.
Hi everyone,
I soooo appreciate all of your advice. I'll be away from the computer until later in the afternoon. I'll work with this as soon as I return.

You could just unplug the display cords except for the main one you use. restart Daz on that monitor. I had such a problem trying to get to my Bios when I had 4 monitors and didn't have the set up how I wanted. I would have to turn all the monitors on to see the bios. Then once I knew where it was I would just turn on the main monitor and the one with bios on it when I want in the Bios when isn't very often if at all.
Sometimes the only thing that works for me when something glitchy happens is to reboot my computer. That usually clears things up.
Hi Richard,
I was away from the computer. Just returned.
I tried all of the easy stuff, rebooting, unpluging the monitor, no cigar.
I'm trying to rename the new shortcut.
Is this where I should rename it in the properties tab?
Does it matter what I rename it?

It doesn't matter what th shortcut is called, but the command line (in the Shortcut tab) is where you need to put the switches, in the Target field after the path to Daz Studio:
Hi Richard,
I apologize for starting that other thread.
Here's the target name. I don't see the words -instanceName on mine.
"C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\DAZStudio.exe"
If I change mine to "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\DAZStudio-Clean.exe" will that work or should I add the words
If I change mine to "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\-instanceName DAZStudio-Clean.exe" will that work or are there other words I need to add?
I really appreciate all of your help.

The switches (-instanceName "Name" and -cleanOnLaunch 1) go after the clsoing quote, with a space before the hyphen - you have to add them (if DS was running you could use the script from the linked page to create the shortcut). If you have DS in the default location for an Install manager install the target line would end up looking like this:
"C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\DAZStudio.exe" -instanceName "Clean" -cleanOnLaunch 1
HI Richard,
No go. I put the above string in but the same thing happened. All is well until that flash of white, then no interface or window shows up.
I know it is running but no window.
What do you suggest I do next?

If you're on a WIndows PC, have you tried the Alt-Tab key combination to see a display of all of the open windows on your PC? If a window for Daz Studio is among them, continue to use Alt-Tab until the focus is on the Daz Studio window and then relase the Alt-Tab key combination.
Hi jjoyner.
I can see it when I use the alt tab.
I'm attaching an image.
Do you know what I should do next?

Try alt-tabbing to get to Daz Studio, then press Alt, then W, then W, then press return/enter - that should open the Select Layout dialogue - then pressreturn/enter again to select the default layout. Does that restore the application to view?
Each Alt-Tab window should show a smaller image of each open application. I've attached an image from one of my laptops. It's possible that your copy of Daz Studio has gotten corrupted. Have you considered an uninstall and a reinstall?
Hi When I press the Alt tab then press alt it brings up this (attachment)
When I press W it brings up wordpad.
Should i just considered an uninstall and a reinstall?

Hi,
Would I be better off to install the new Beta version.
If so, where would I find it.

The decision to uninstall/reinstall is totally yours to make. I just update to version 4.20 earlier this week after backing up my Daz system files for safe measure. While the update corrected an issue with a product that I bought last month that needed version 4.15.0.21 or higher (I had 4.15.0.2), it also wiped out a lot of content files. I started to reinstall that content with DIM but then took another path because I did not want to reintroduce any RSR image files that Poser can no longer read (Daz Studio can still read them.). I had recently copied the entire contents of my external hard 1 TB drive to which I install all of my 3D content (Daz, Poser, etc.) to a 5 TB external drive and I had also recently replaced all of the RSR files on both drive with PNG files (used P3dO Explorer). I caused Windows Explorer to copy content directories (People, Runtime, etc.) when the untouched drive had files no longer on the updated drive.
Regarding BETA versions, I’ve never installed any so I cannot give you any advice there.
That sounds as if you were pressing the Windows logo key, not Alt.
This happened to me once, I did find the solution in a forum, but can't remember if it was DAZ forum . Your DAz is loading in minimized window... wait i think i found it
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/1163/daz-studio-4-won-t-open-remains-minimized-in-taskbar
try that solution
I was pressing on the left side of the keyboard, on the bottom row, I have, control, option,Alt, spacebar.
I pressed the alt key on my keyboard .
Is that the correct key?
I truly apologize for taking so much time. It is very troubling as I have clients waiting for products for a deadline.

Did you try holding shift button and then right click your mouse over the daz icon? if not try that and select restore all windows
Hi Noob4Ever,
Here's a screen shot the choices with the rt click.
I did not see restore all windows. I tried restore previous version but it said there were none.
If I could find the restore all windows that might work.
Thnaks so much for your help.

Is this a Mac - only those have an option key? Your screenshots looked like Windows, and Windows key + a letter gives you various applications. Windows key Tab gives various quick-launches for applications
