Models 'going bad'?

Has anyone noticed models occasionally 'going bad'?

I haven't figured out how or why, but occasionally some figure in a file I've worked with a lot just... mutates. Slightly. So far I've only noticed it around the ears, forming a deep blocky crease near the outer edge. Mesh resolution doesn't seem to matter.

If I copy the pose/shape to a fresh figure, it's fine... it's like something went bad in the file?

Always check the expiration date and if the figure smells funny definitely don't eat it.

    Greetings,
Display optimization; go into your configuration settings, and look for display optimization. You probably have it set at max, and you'll need to back it off one setting.

I've had the most CRAZY $#!t happen; like I'll move a characters hand, and their face just...cracks off...a seam around their face, and moved an inch or so away. Something out of a really, really bad LSD trip. The trippiest part is that if I save it as a 'broken' file, and load it again, it seems fine...also renders seem to work just fine, despite the wackiness.

Edit: Here's someone else's view of the relevant config screen: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/38443/#564704

Turn Display Optimization: 'Best' down a notch.

It's a risk of getting sale items from DAZ, they've sat on the shelf too long. And after that leak in the roof ... well, let's not speak of that.

Well, the USDA recently said that the current 'best by' dating system is a bit too conservative and that things are really fine, for up to 18 months past that date...

They're not bad, they're just rendered that way.

On a somewhat serious side...if it is more than an occasional problem, it can indicate a video card problem...usually drivers, but occasionally bad/failing card memory.
