Will a M1 (or 2) product work on G2M?

I am specifically talking about Michael's Morphing Fantasy Beard w/Hair. Will that work ok with the G2M models?
I need a good morphing beard (or at least better options) and found that but am weary if it will work with G2M.

In my experience trying to fit anything on a figure that's more than 1 generation away (up or down) causes problems. The item was built for M1 so that's the figure it's going to look it's best on.
I use the Daz Combatibility Matrix but only goes down to 4th Gen.
Wow I guess I never noticed how limited the beard options are! There is a long beard for M4

Luckily they're both cheap so you could always try it and not actually fit it to your figure but use the parameters & d-formers to adjust it as close as you can - it's a lot of work but I've done that before with items I had my heart set on using.
If you're clever with Photoshop you could fit a hairstyle on backwards and create a custom opacity map for it to look like a beard.
I'm not really familiar with it but http://www.daz3d.com/look-at-my-hair might be worth checking into - I searched Renderosity.com as well but didn't find any there either so maybe this tool has replaced the need for pre made beards?
Best of luck to you!
Greetings,
No, it probably won't. There's some luck converting Generation 3 stuff, and lots of resources for Generation 4, but M1/2 are really way different...
Have you tried looking at:

Best of luck with your bearded characters!

This is Genesis 1 but works on 2:

The vendor is currently working on an actual G2M version as we speek. depending no how fast you need it might be workth waiting. Promos can be found here:

And, honestly... Michael 1 was released around 2001 or so. Really, the only way to get it to would would require almost as much work as recreating it from scratch.
I could swear I used Michael’s Morphing Fantasy Beard w/Hair on a Santa figure for a card using Genesis just 2 years ago. It was attached as props and I have problems with the hair, and had to scale bits. I'm at work just now so it will have to be when I get home I can dig out the scene and check. I used it on Michael 4 when I first got started - never had Michael 1 or 2.
There is a version of it coming out soon for G2M. It might be worth waiting for.
Can you use it directly? No. But you can probably make it work for a static image with some fidling.
You'd have to parent it to the head, not conform it, then use scale / translatiion / rotation, a few morphs, maybe a dformer, a smoothing modifier to help with collision... It's certainly doable but might require quite some work.
Another thing to keep in mind is that it's a very old item which was made for Poser (4 probably), so it will probably need some work on the materials too.
That should be doable, yes - but it will take some fiddling (though for the most part a close fit isn't vital, as long as the visible hairlines are reasonable).
I have had fairly decent luck with fitting items like this.
What I would suggest you do is load the hair and beard into your scene with G2M in his T pose.
Position the hair & beard, then go to surface and make all the hair except the scalp/based invisible by taking the opacity to 0. Remove the trans map.
Adjust the x, y & z scale of the hair figure as best you can to get it to fit.
Then go to Edit: Object: Apply smoothing modifier. Go to parameters and make G2M the colliding figure. You can adjust how many times it smooths and collides there as well. 5 & 5 tends to work for me.
Then go back and tweak the scale some more until the scalp fits.
Manually make G2M's head the parent figure, then apply your mat setting to the hair.
Hope this helps.
There is the M3 Long Beard in the PC. There was a Santa hair and beard for David 3 but DAZ vaulted it. However, you can get it in this bundle

You can make the old MMBeard fit with some manual tweaking, but, as you can see below, the textures now look horrifically dated. There's a new G2M beard set coming out soon from Mec4d that should be the answer to your problem http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/55729/ t
I don't think the beard looks too bad. The fair is a different story.
Thanks so far for all the great suggestions!
Now that would be kind of what I am looking for, I will have to wait till the new one comes out and see if it is affordable.
The funny thing is I did a few different searches on DAZ and none of this stuff popped up, though I did get the "look at my hair" stuff.
The "Look at My Hair" might work but it is to expensive right now. Though I did find the free version on here through a link from another website, which is odd that it didn't show up in the search through DAZ . Here is the link: http://www.daz3d.com/look-at-my-hair-free-player.
I may still try the M1 beard as it is cheap for PC+.
The front of the beard and mustache are okay, but the blending on the cheeks is pretty ragged... it looks best in white, but the thin-ness of the edges is really obvious on the darker textures. And about the only way I've found to really make it work with a wide range of expressions is to apply multiple versions with each section isolated via opacity and individually parented. In short, good enough for a background character or something that you're going to paint over in Photoshop, but there are better options for the later generations that will actually auto-fit.
The product is what eleven or so years old. One of the big problems it has is that it needs texture updating. It was made for Poser4. Might have updates to change the .bum files but not much else. I've used a couple of different hair resources to update the texture maps and made a new set of trans maps. Iggy Mane Attraction has an excellent set of hair textures and brushes.

Inspired to do this...
The beard is Unshaven Beard for Genesis (though the figure is G2M). It is one of my favorite products, and I'm EAGERLY awaiting the new version (among other things, so that the hairs can be a scootch smaller)
That looks pretty good.
Slightly off topic, How did you get the wrinkles on the face?
https://www.daz3d.com/aging-morphs-2-bundle-hd
VERY useful, and it's HD, so I can get a lot of fine detail. (Although I probably overdid the wrinkle settings)
Moving toward PBR, it's more important to be able to capture details by fine alterations to the geometry to the skin rather than trying clever coloring patterns of maps.
(Some of the wrinkle is from him frowning, too. :)
Yet another product I could not find in the store but am led to via the forums.....That is also going on my wish list.
I figured some of the wrinkle effect was from frowning but there was obviously more. I was wondering why they had a youth morph but not an aging morph. One would think the slider would go up to age as well as going down to make younger.
The aging morphs have a LOAD of dials and settings, including several that aren't specific to age, plus various 'dial in HD details.'
One of a handful of highly desirable products, IMO, along with general morph bundles.
I agree, the morph dials are what makes the program that much more fun.
It would be nice if they had some extra morphing options for the head (like making it a little more oval). I have had an issue when trying to create a figure that is familiar to someone I know and I can't get the head shape correct, hers seems a little more oval than what I have seen in DAZ so far.
I want more morphing dials! My problem right now is I don't have the funds to purchase a lot of the stuff I want (or need). I had a private discussion with someone about creating a 'race' from a game system in DAZ and using the creature creator. Apparently creature creator can't do what I need it to do to re-create the head shape. But it is apparently possible in Hexagon (which I do own), but currently above my present understanding of the program.
Do you have the basic morph bundle?
http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-2-male-s-morphs-bundle ?
I find it and the aging bundle to be INVALUABLE to doing a lot of stuff. Creature collection... isn't as necessary, I think, unless you really want to make cat people and whatnot.
I think I do....lol...
I have been going through a lot of the available sites looking for cheap or free. I have downloaded so many things I am not sure what exactly I have. I do know that some of the stuff is really hard to find. There is a character I got on renderosity (Kim) that I have not been able to locate just yet and I have looked and looked. I found a few other missing things in the process but not her just yet. I have also discovered that there are some figures I have that just don't work right without some other base figures. Sometimes I can get them to work with some tweaking but for some there is no hope until I can get the base figures, or other requirements......

If you don't have them already, the best collection of free morphs for the G2s are easily the Die Trying sets as ported by Sickleyield
http://www.sharecg.com/v/72792/favorite/21/DAZ-Studio/DieTryings-182-Morphs-for-Genesis-2-Female and http://www.sharecg.com/v/73186/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/DieTryings-182-Morphs-for-Genesis-2-Male
Beyond that, all of Zev0's sets are worth having and pretty much indispensable if you do a lot of original character creation. I also strongly recommend the sets by JoeQuick, SiIckleyield and Thorne, but the cheapest source of morphs, in the long run, is investing in Generation X2, which allows you to copy almost any morphs that' have ever been made for the previous three generations of characters... and there are an insane number of freebies for Gen 4.
ShareCG has some good stuff. I have a lot of stuff from there already and I still have to sort through a bunch of it....
I also recently rediscovered Deviant Art. There is a bunch of free stuff on there, like a lot of stuff from Assassin's Creed including weapons, outfits, character models, scenes and more. Here is a link: http://decanandersen.deviantart.com/art/AC-Altair-s-Shortsword-v1-3-206348520
Though I am not sure how well the models will work in DAZ or if they can be converted.
Thanks for the tip!
I've really enjoyed Sickleyield and Zev0's stuff (like Skin Builder, Skin Overlay, LIE Baker, etc)
Yeah I really like a lot of his stuff. I have some kind of morph control but it doesn't have all the options he has in his body morph controls. I also have a tongue control that allows me to do some crazy things but the sliders are difficult to locate for some reason. I believe I can only find them under the parameter controls.
Oh I like this. Where can I get this beard? I did a search for "MMBeard" but did not find anything.
