Hair opacity render times.

Hello. I've found that rendering with shadows (raytraced or deep shadow) in 3Delight is slowed considerably by the opacity/transparency maps used in hair. Removing the opacity map (set to 'none'), solves this I think, but obviously makes the hair look less like hair. Does anyone have a solution to this?

Depending on the shader used there may be options to make the hair invisible to occlusion, which should speed the rendering up - it's been a while since I have used this so I can't recall the details.

A few tips for speeding up rendering of transmapped hair here!

Thanks guys. I've done the occlusion thing and will try the advice in the link. Cheers!
