Lighting

Hello,

has anyone experimented with Shadow Bias on the lighting set up to see how much of an improvement lowering the figure makes to the appearance of skin tones and detail in the render?

I would be interested to hear of your findings as I am just starting to get to grips with rendering settings, and lighting will be next. So much to learn!

Shadow bias is an offset, in cm if you are using DAZ Studio, that is used to guard against self-shadowing - which shows up as dark bands on the surface. Changing it shouldn't affect skin tone, it will affect shadowing (if it's too high items that are very close to the skin, such as tights or stockings, may lack shadows or - worse - may have patchy shadows; of course with too low a value you will get self-shadowing).

Thank you, I have seen incorrect information on this in another thread. One less thing to learn.
