M4 - How to make Morph Injections from Zbrush/etc made morphs?

All I want to do is get some of my very old character's I created on Michael 4/Freak 4 to Genesis 2/3/8 using GenX.

I know M4 is very dated technology, but some character's shapes I created on M4 cannot be fully converted over to Genesis figures because some moprhs cannot be registered into GenX since they are not injected morphs, let alone being able to find each a every one of the files.

"Create Single Morph" is useless if you cannot find all the correct injection morph files to drag and drop into GenX itself or if you created a custom morph from Blender/Zbrush.

I get that it is now 2022, but I just would prefer to be able utilize some of my old characters on Genesis to update them to do new art work.

Okay I'll ask. Exactly which figure are you trying to make a morph for?

We do not make inj/rem morphs for any of the Genesis clans. We just make morphs that can be dialed it and mix 'n matched with others in what some call 'the gene pool.'

Okay Viper016 As I just happened to be going through some ancient files anyways, I came across a note from way back in 2012. So change the V4 to M4, and update any references as to where options are located in D/S and the process should still work.

    ................................

From the ancient forums of 2012: original poster was not findable by the poster "Safetyman" or credits would be given.

    Safetyman paraphrased it as:

    1) Clear the scene, then load V4
    2) Inject desired character face/body morph
    3) Export as OBJ
    4) Clear scene (File > New)
    5) Load V4
    6) Convert to TriAx Weight Map (under Scene tab > Edit > Rigging)
    7) Building|Scripting tab > Morphloader Pro (icon) > select OBJ (created in #3)
    8) Dial in Character morph (which was created in prev step)
    9) Load Genesis
    10) Dial in Genesis corresponding shape (i.e. A3/V3/v4/etc., this is a purchased item)
    11) Run Figure Transfer Utility (Scene > Assets > Transfer Utility) - source = V4 (use default), target is Genesis (Clone > matching figure). Show options, under morph targets, check source morphs ... then un-check fit to source figure (you can pretty much uncheck everything else as well)
    12) When complete, Dial In the new Imported morph in Genesis (Parameters Tab, Morphloader section)
    13) Dial in any other needed morphs to make the character look right
    14) File > Save As > Support Asset > DSF Morph File; making sure to check only the new morph and any other required morphs done in #13
    15) Reload Genesis and the Morphs should be there. Note that this will give you one dial to make the morph.

Thank you so much for finding something to work with on this dated issue.

I followed the steps with M4 and Genesis(1) to the best of my ability and during the Transfer Utility process upon hitting "Accept" I run into a 22% progress loop that eats up ram until Daz Studio crashes.

I honestly wish I could just make my own Morph Injection for M4 to load into GenX and go from there, seems like the process you so kindly provided above doesn't work for my situation.

  • Do you have D/S3Advanced and I think the name was DeltaX's script? That's the only way I know of to make inj/rem scripts for legacy figures.

I had these set up on my old desktop but sadly it has finally perished. Haven't tripped over the script in what was salvaged.

I'm on my 4th PC and been through a couple External HDDs over the years and I know the only thing I might find someday is a broken DS3 Advanced(that needs the orginal computer key...)

I sadly have never heard of this DeltaX script. Thank you for this info though, maybe it will come in handy someday.

  • D/S3A can be found in a library magazine at the online library archives, I don't have the link handy. However it's that script that is required. Sadly it could not be made to work on D/S4.

Now in D/S4 there was supposed to be someway to make inj/rem morphs but so far, either something in the workflow was broken OR we all were missing a vital piece of information.

  • Or, one can make inj/rem morphs in Poser AFAIK.

Not natively, though there may be Python scripts that will alow it. There are certainly tools that will take a Poser CR2 file and create the ibjection code. DS can do it too, via the ExP Exporter.

Okay thank you. I have a vague recollection of trying to use the ExP Exporter years ago, unsuccessfully. Will have to give it another try one day - but this is not that day.
