Hi everybody!!! It's me!! Thoie!!! You know, Louie's girlfriend? Wow! What can I say? It's been a long, awful winter for us! Cold and rain, cold and snow, cold and ice! All Winter long!! There just wasn't a whole lot we could do this winter what with the weather and all. Louie 'n' me, we just sat around and stayed glued to the tube and just ate ourselves silly! Way too cold to go to the clubs, and even a quick trip down 5th Avenue to go shopping was just out of the question, which is just as well 'cause Louie, he don't like to shop anyway and he just leaves that to me. I guess it kind of goes without saying we packed on a few pounds this winter...especially Louie. Ugh! All that beer and hot dogs...So, just as soon as the weather got a tiny bit nice it was off to this cute little shop for a whole new set of exercise duds for me...and a clean shirt for Louie...then off to the gym! I just could not get Louie interested in the whole exercise thing at all! No way! He wouldn't even look at all of the shiny new equipment 'cause he said it just wasn't him. Well, it took me a while but I finally got a great idea on how to "entice" him up on that exercise bike and start melting those pounds away! I have to keep a real close eye on him, though. If I'm not careful, he'll keep peddling all the way to New Jersey to get that beer! See ya!!

    A few things here LG.

    1) Why is drinking buddy outside the window wearing a dress?

    2) How did you get the mirror to reflect the outside the way it did, bending around the corner, with a street sign, making the outside seem infinate like it is in real life. That must have been very tricky. And why isn't drinkin' buddy's reflection in the mirror too? Is he a vampire?

I can tell just by looking at it that his buddy is wearing Bermuda shorts, not a skirt. As for why he's not in the reflection, that's easy too. The position of the mirror precludes him being visible in the reflection. The angle is simply not right. It's angled to reflect objects further off to his left (our right).

Uh oh...a little copy and paste confusion there. I gotta go back and clean those up.

Yeah...I knew that link was there, but I wasn't sure about posting it as such, it being a direct link to a zip file and all. I'll have to let the judges rule on that one if it's okay or not.

Woah! What? A dress? Big Eddie Mac's got on his usual camo shorts and his Hawaiian shirt...A dress? Must be the reflection or somethin'.

If you notice, nobody's reflection is in the mirror! It must have been the angle I chose or something. As to getting the outside scene to bend around the corner into infinity...that's a trade secret! Okay...it's not. It was just a happy accident. I took a copy of that background on a 2D plane and swung it around at a 90 degree angle to get a reflection in the mirror. It looked okay so I left it alone. It'll never happen again...I'll never get that lucky twice in a row.

There are quite a few great free hairs out there, and I often find myself using several "go to" examples more often than the ones I paid for. Go figure.

Thank you, Gulan. Insofar as difficulty goes, difficulty is good. It helps us (sometimes forces us) to develop and grow. Assembling all the pieces necessary to complete the render we have in mind, especially for the freebie challenge, can require some effort, but can lead you to content that you might never have found otherwise.. Even once you have what you need, you may find that some content isn't exactly what you want and so you need to spend some time modifying it in some way to serve that purpose. And that's not a bad thing, since, as I said, it may require us to hone some existing skills, dust off some old ones or even acquire some entirely new ones. But its all good. The freebie challenge is supposed to be fun, can often be funny and, I believe, an excellent way to become better at this stuff. In closing I would offer this old adage, for you or anyone else: "If I can do it, you can do it".

True, I will try to do what I can, and yeah practice makes it better :) but I think my progress is good for now, I mean I never really imagined that such nice things can be done, and me to do it now that is a real challenge :D.

You are all welcome. I will need judges please at least one till end of month if possible.

Btw I agree about Frankestein, very nice one especialy now that I can use it with M4 :) I have even read original book about it :D. Anyway I was wondering is there maybe more those special freebies I have missed on Renderosity, something like a list or info where I can search for them. This one really looks good and hard to find, thanks for brining it in, If there is more I would like to search for them.

    ... NOTICE ...

Hi All. I am writing you this to let you know that, due to circumstances beyong my control, I will not be able to run the monthly freebie challenge anymore. It has been coming for a while, and I just recently canceled my PC membership also. It has nothing to do with Daz or any of the members here. It is a personal issue with family and health.

I have been at the wheel now for 7 years, guiding this ship through rain, hail, sleet and snow and have watched many come and go. Even lost a few in passing away. The reward has been there for me each month in the joy shared, the fun, the good times with friends I made here. Thank all of you for letting me play in the freepository all these years. I am sure that Daz will be picking up where I am leaving off.

Next month is usually the "Summer fun and sun" theme, but that could change. Someone will be posting something soon about it.

I will miss all of you guys, and will always remember you and all the fun we have had over the years. The gavel wars was a memory that spread throughout all of the Daz forums. Too much fun...lol. To all my ETOs I once had, BWSman (may he R.I.P.), Jeeperz, Chohole, Jamminwolfie, and all my old friends, thank you for being there and for being a friend. I will drop in to see all of you from time to time, but for now, I must leave for a while. Thanks again and may God bless all of you.

    ... NOTICE ...

We will miss you very much music, but family and health have to come first. Don't be a stranger. Take care.
