Where are the missing files?

Everything was going along fine and then I received the message that files were missing and my saved characters were not accessible (see attached screenshot).

The popup says it's looking for them in "/c:/users/owner/appdata....".

There shouldn't be a "/" at the beginning of that.

also there should be some sort of setting in Face Transfer that allows you to save a material preset/shape preset so you don't lose all your work.

I don't use Face Transfer, so I'm not familiar with the UI  sorry.

Does Face Transfer save all of your presets like this, or just this one?

edit: Have you checked that folder it's looking to see if the materials are actually in there?

I had three presets that were saved that worked. I could select them and the scene or the character would load. Now, two of the characters do not load. I have no idea what happened. Everything was working fine. Somehow the files got corrupted.

If Face Transfer will let you choose a location for the presets I would find a different place to put them.

Just incase Windows decides to "clean" the appdata folders of "temp" files.

Some "PC Cleaners" will delete anything in a folder named temp.

Normally something like that would be saved in your Documents folder under Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\Presets

You can make a new folder in the Presets called what ever you like so it's easy to remember that is where you put them.

    Something like

This is the Folder I'm going to keep my Face Transfer Material Presets In

    or maybe something simpler like

    FaceTR

also a folder in it for each one so you can keep the special ones separate from all the others

I did save them in a different place than the default, but they disappeared. I just created a new figure using Face Transfer and was able to save it and retrieve it. Not sure why the others do not work.

One other question: where is the morphing feature for Gorilla and Hobgoblin on the Genesis 8 figures? I cannot seem to find it in the Parameters tab.

See attached screenshot. I am totally at a loss why this would happen. I keep thinking that I can get DAZ Studio to work for me. This time around I really thought that DAZ had gotten their act together. I was really excited about the great images I was able to create. I started using Face Transfer and things were going great suddenly all my saved scene and figure files became inaccessible. I am trying work with a design firm to create illustrations for a children's book and they are having problems also working with DAZ Studio. Ths company has created thousands of books and they are asking me questions on why things are not working with DAZ Studio. I have no answers for them as I cannot seem to get DAZ Studio to work for me.

I just do not understand how a product can have so many glitches and so many problems. It cannot be the tool of choice for anybody doing any serious design work. I am ready to give it up for the last time. I sent a ticket into support and hopefully will get some answers. I just have to accept that DAZ Studio is a tool for amateurs.

My dreams of creating illustrations for my book are going up in smoke as I do not have the skills to create illustrations from scratch. DAZ Studio could be a helpful tool, but I have been here before. Just when I think the product is great and can do amazing things, I run into a brick wall.

If anybody has any suggestions why this has happened to me, please let me know. I really think that DAZ Studio has the potential to be a great product.

I am going to re-install DAZ Studio. I have serious doubts that will make any difference.

Why do you think re-installation would help? It will not, as the problem is not in how DS works.

What do you do when you have used the Face transfer, how do you save what you have done?

It looks like you are not saving assets but presets that are still connected to the temporary files that are not even supposed to stay in place for long.

It is not only Face Transfer files that do not work. It seems to be all my saved files. DAZ does not seem to recognize them. I put in a support ticket. Hopefully, they will be able to help.

Do you have some more examples, of things which are not pointing to the temp folder?

Merged threads, don't double-post as it just leads people to waste the time they are offereing to help you in going over old ground.

Have you looked at the issue that IceCrMn pointed out in the second post of this thread?
