So does DS 4.20 have any glaring bugs? I am still on 4.15.

Not exactly a bug BUT ghost lights no longer work because of the nVida upgraded iray.

Okay, well I never used those anyway so I guess I should be good to upgrade if that's all.

Before you do, you might find it useful to read through this thread:

There are some other smaller problems such as the way top coat is handled and its effects on products such as OOT hairs

Theres a bug that some users have encountered that won't let you save the UI layout. And DS reverts to the default on startup.

Seems to be fixed in the beta, I don't think the release version has been updated to include that fix though.

I've been running a custom UI for a very long time, both releaase version and beta. I wasn't affected by this bug.

Should note that I run the beta and the release version both.

Not sure that has anything to do with it.

It isn't just Ghost Lights per se - any emissive, transmapped (or just plain semi-transparent) surface has changed because Iray now multiplies the luminosity by the opacity, so things like flames made from transmapped planes will yield less light than before. There is work contuinuing to match the old behaviour as closely as possible.

Also note that the behaviour of Thin Film has been changed in Iray, some haird (notably soem of those from OoT) now appear very much darker and the base Genesis 8s have been updated to compensate in their tear surface. Daz has added some tweaks which go some way to addressing the issues.

I would suggest trying the Public Build (beta) to see how much the changes affect you, and to try out possible adaptations, before going to the General Release.

In general this issue should show only if there are no pre-existing UI files, though it will prevent the saving of new custom layouts.

Okay, looks like there is still reason to keep 4.15 for a while longer, Can I download 4.20 and just install it as well without borking 4.15?

No, not the general release version as that will wipe out your DS 4.15. However, you can use the beta version of DS 4.20 alongside your DS 4.15

Edit: I notice that this beta version must be installed with DIM
