How do I get Rodericks various SBH elements on a different character?
I tried saving his SBH as Scene Subsets. But when I load those subsets I see no way to fit them to a new character.
I suppose I could load Roderick, remove his shape and skin, and continue from there... but 1) that seems like a rather tedious work around,
and more importantly, 2) I'd like to work with 8.1. When I click on the "JP Roderick + SB Hair" Actor icon while having a G8.1M selected, it just loads a new G8M into the scene instead of giving me the option to apply Roderick to the selected G8.1M figure, like it normally does.
I never really got into SBH so I may be missing something here...
Help would be appreciated! Thank you!

A potential issue is that SBH is tied to surfaces, and 8.1 has different surfaces than 8. I'm testing it out now, but that's what I see as a possible complication.
So far, my experiences are the same as yours. I start with 8.1M in the scene, double-click the Roderick + SBH preset, and it loads Roderick as a new figure. I tried re-parenting the SBH to 8.1, and nothing happened. I haven't tested it all the way yet, but converting each hair component to a figure and then using the Transfer Utility to rig it to 8.1 seems to work. You would then need to save the hair as props and/or a scene subset to make it usable on future characters, so you're not repeating this process every time.
I may have to walk that last statement back, as the Transfer Utility appears to be hung on the first bit of hair I tried running it on.
edit: it did finally finish, but it took an inordinately long time, which just increases the necessity of saving these as new props once you're done.
You know what? Just ignore everything I said. I'm not sure this can be done.
Thanks for looking into it!
I'm hoping for some more input, perhaps from @jepegraphics himself? *bats lashes*
I've done it and it's sort of hit 'n miss, mostly hit.
You just use reparent the hair, section by section, to the 2nd model. And after you do a section, at the top of the hair in the parameters pane there is a 'radio button' (in programmer GUI speak) "Apply Transformation" that you click to the pressed state and that causes the hair to 'autofit' to the new model (AGAIN though: AFTER reparenting the hair to the desired new model). It does have to be a G8M/G8.1M model, although I can't say I've tried it with a G8F/G8.1F model to say definitivey it wouldn't work. I have tried it on similar old 3DU toon animals with the basic same layouts regarding surface areas but that will not work.
Note: You'll have better 'fit & follow' success if you put both in a t-pose/a-pose in the same (x, y, z) location. If you can't put in a t-pose/a-pose then copy the pose of Roderick & paste that pose to the model you want to transfer the Roderick hair to.
Can't figure it out![crying crying](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/cry_smile.png)
