Yep, oddly enough that looks like it was put in my message when the two threads were combined. It didn't show in the quote though :)

This image, for example? Other than the tablecloth, all the rest of the stuff was free content.

there was a render here I saw it unless I am going bonkers
Does it have to be either/or? Couldn't it be both? :)
Check the bottom of page one.

I thought so. It belonged with the other post. Apparently it can travel from post like an image pathogen.

    Heheheheh, here's the image again.

Also a second image -- the hat was actually a sequined sparkling green Saint Patrick's Day hat, the gun was Dystopian free thing, and the glasses from some site I forget, all free. Table free, too, I think.

The point is that there's a LOT of free stuff out there, plus modelers and such. And, heck, even simple shapes can turn into neat stuff with proper effort.

And Daz is free. You can do lots, free.
(I've spent a metric arseload of money on Daz content, mind you)

I wonder if there's a time delay via time zone and servers updating? The only recent change of 2 new items I see are Josie's Jewels and Kid's 4 Ballet Textures (both of which were up two days ago).

No, I think in this case what happened was that the page changed and then changed again rapidly. When the M4 Hero bundle and Cold Stuff were briefly up there yesterday, I noted that one of the other items up was the Quad Tank. That's gone as well, so I think the erroneous postings were pulled and replaced with items that were "safe" given that they were recently on the freebies page anyway.

The whole thing does rather defeat the purpose of a freebies page, really, but IIRC, the whole raft of new freebies every week or so thing only started around the same time as the big push to get everyone to switch over to the PC+. There was some ad that they were running in flash ads everywhere that said "A new free item everyday" and, just like the way that a lot of the "big new" perks offered for the PC+ have quickly gone the way of the dinosaurs, now that those ads have stopped running, the "new" freebies have dropped to a trickle.

Just what are Daz3D's rules or guidelines for when or how many "free-for everyone" items are put up as an offer? When the benefit started, it changed about ever week. Then it started lengthening. The current selection have been up longer than any in the past. Like people are saying, this last group seems unchanged for more than a month. if there are no strict rules governing this benefit, shouldn't there be? Isn't it possible to follow a recognized plan, so that people will know when to look for fresh items and they won't have to check every day and be disappointed?

Benefits are such things as the weekly freebie, free for a week to PC members and free with purchase to non PC members and the monthly freebie, free only to PC members during the month it is released. Anything else is bonus given, not a benefit and has no schedule to follow.

I was always told "don't look a gift horse in the mouth", an old proverb. The advice given in the 'don't look...' proverb is: when receiving a gift be grateful for what it is; don't imply you wished for more by assessing its value.

There's another (less old) saying: "Under promise and over deliver"

Right now the banner at the top of the shop page invites us to click a panel to "See Today's Freebies"

If you do that you go to a page that shows "This Week’s Freebies"

It doesn't take long to discover that today's/this week's freebies are the same as yesterday's/last week's freebies.

I can quite understand if Daz have decided for business reasons to offer less free content. But implying that they hand out new freebies every day/week and then failing to do so is just needlessly winding up their customers.

    They're overpromising and underdelivering.

This would be my suggestion take for what its worth.
Maybe Daz should change the freebie section name to Buy one then get one free. In the old days Daz did give lots of great freebies now days you very rarely get anything free here at daz unless you buy something first. . even the free texture offered lately require you to buy the require product to use it. which makes it a buy1 get 1 unless you already own the product for the textures offerd in which case you properly have the textures already too I know I have a lot of matching textures for products I bought.
so I think the name of the section should be buy one get one free .. because in my world, free means free no strings attached. nothing else required to purchase.
But in this crazy upside down world. Free means free only if you purchase this to get that free.. and again that is still buy 1 get 1 so maybe being politically correct in upside down world would get less complaints from those who see things posted as free and find they need to purchase something to get it free. which still makes it a buy1 get 1..lol
But is seems in Daz world free means you need to purchase something to get something free which still makes it a buy one get one.
so perhaps changing the name of Buy 1 get one would be more clear er.

Back on the Free Textures . if daz is going to offer these textures for older models for the freebie which if you don;t have the product for it requires you to buy it to use the free texture then maybe daz should think about offering those older products require for those "free" textures at a reduce cost so it would make sense as a freebie.. ..in any case its still would be buy one get one. How they have it now is down right crappy.
Reality is its not really free if you have to purchase something even if its a free texture that you never use because you would have to wait forever or if then to get the require product at a reduce price..lol I believe that is called baiting the customer.

Just saying. its not really free if you have to purchase something to get the free item is it?

The freebies page has changed again and these items that were only up for a few hours a couple of weeks ago are back:
    http://www.daz3d.com/m4-hero-pro-pack
    http://www.daz3d.com/feeling-sick-cold-stuff

The M4 Hero pro pack is such a big item that I would grab it quick before it disappears again

Huh. Just when I thought they'd stopped running the "free item every day" ad, it popped up again on me this morning.
