RTX A4000 - How does it compare?

When comparing systems, what would be better for DAZ?
NVIDIA RTX A4000
or
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB
I've never heard of the A4000 model. I can't really find comparison with the 30xx models.

What would be better to run Daz and some light games?

RTX 3080 would be better in regards to rendering speed and comes in different flavors in regards to cooling solutions. The downside is it requires a lot more wattage and if you game on it, driver updates could be a source of headaches. Depending on which games you play, you might not need to use the game drivers and could just use studio drivers.
RTX A4000 uses a blower to cool the card which is exhausted out the back of the case & the card itself can end up running much warmer than a 3080 that has liquid cooling. Not really an ideal card for an alternative option to a 3080 since you would be paying more for less, generally speaking.
Great Tips - Thanks!
...the A4000 has 16 GB of VRAM which can come in handy for heavier scenes. like those with multiple G8s. It also has a lower TDP than the 3080Ti, 140w v. 350w
The A4000 is also selling for less than the 3080 TI. Prices are from about 1,150 to 1,250 whereas teh 3080 Ti is going for between 1,500 and change (eBay so might be used) to nearly 2,000$
A5000s with 24 GB 8192 Cuda 156 Tensor and 64 RT cores and draw only 230 W are going for about 2,200$ to 2,500$.
The markup on the pro cards is much lower than on the gaming cards.
Being that I am on a rather slim budget I actually considered an A4000 because at the time 3060s were going for nearly 1,000$ (sometimes more) and the jump in cores as well as exta VRAM would have been worth it. Then I received a notice form EVGA hat they had a 3060 SC at a very reasonable price.asI was on their waitlist since the 3060 was announced.
Their running around $600 and up now. Amazon has an ASUS TUF Gaming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 V2 OC Edition Graphics Card for $549.50
...true, prices have moderated a bit. When I got mine they were going for about 900$ on average. Another 200$ - 250$ for 4 GB more VRAM and more cores would have been worth it then. Still, 600$ - 700$ for a 330$ card is ridiculous.
Does Daz Studio recognize the RTX A4000 as a GPU device?
RTX A2000/A4000/A5000 are workstation GPUs, not necessarily designed for gaming. They're part of the Quadro RTX series.
RTX 30 series are definitely more 'beefier' than these Quadro cards. More power, more CUDA cores. I would still get a 3080 if I wanted the power.
...there are people using older Quadro cards as well as the new A series and not having issues with Daz.
The point I had was the months ago the price for a 3060 was about as much as the A4000's MSRP and the 3080Ti about double the cost.
The pro grade cards are made primarily for graphics production and deep learning, so true, they are not the best for games. The other advantage, a much lower TDP meaning you don't need a massive PSU and heat actually is not as much an issue, particularly if you have good airflow in the case. The A4000 actually consumes less power at peak output than my old 1 GB GTX 460 did.
I have a Quadro P-6000 24 gig. No issues here. Even has RTX drivers.
Yes, DAZ Studio works with the RTX Ax000 series. I have an A5000 in my render box and it works fine. While the RTX 3x00 cards may have more raw horsepower, and are better at games, the Ax000 cards are very good cards. They consume less power than the 3x00 cards and fit in a lot more cases as they are one or two slot cards (no 2.9 slot monsters). And that extra VRAM can come in handy (I don't need it, yet).
...indeed, wish I had the resources for an A5000 and the 128 GB of memory to support it . it would easily fit in my current case compared to a 3090 and I have more than enough airflow with 7 fans to keep it cool. First things first though, the much needed system upgrade.
