in D|S4.12 and below actually I thought 4.11 is the reason I use 4.11 with my GTX card so I can disable it but some use 4.12, I guess it depends which version
So it's outdated and not included in 4.2?
you mean 4.20 I assume it's a version number not a decimal
4.2 did not even have iray if it existed, I think we started with 4.5
think it went missing long ago, I rolled back a version of 4.12 to 4.11 get it
Have a look here:- https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/5099106/
You can only control opitex-prime acceleration if you are running daz 4.12.0.83 or older and gpu drivers 4.36.30
NVIDIA changes how Opitex worked in the GPU for the raytracing in RTX gpu architecture which in turn changed how opitex worked in the GTX gpu cards architecture being that opitex is set as always on by the gpu driver.
so if your using a new RTX gpu & or your running daz studio newer that 4.12.0.83 OR A NVIDIA driver newer that 4.35.30 than you will not be able to turn off the optiex in daz studio
But if you are running a GTX gpu with daz 4.12.0.83 or older and gpu drivers 4.36.30 then you will be able to
..so basically if you are using any version above 4.12.0.83 and the latest driver, you are stuck with Optix always on if you have a pre-RTX card..
well I have the latest driver and 4.11 uses just over 1GB VRAM less than 4.20 beta on every scene
often more
I am rendering something now GPU-Z says 3400MB, 4.20 it will come close to 6GB every time
