3D Art Freebie Challenge April 2022 "New Beginnings"

"The Al-Jackyeerabdaz Oasis"

Starring: Banjara costume and Barack/Ignis Scientia Assassin

The tale: (Entirely fictional)

Somewhere in time in a place far far away, Jafatima-Banjara and Al-Barack, her older brother, went to the Al-Jackyeerabdaz oasis to see the Cycadeoidea Gigantea in bloom. It is the only palm species that grows in water and is very rare. It takes 54 years for the plant to grow large enough to flower and then blooms once every eight years for just one day. Since women were not allowed to go to the oasis before, it is the first time for Jafatima-Banjara to see the flowers. It is also the first time for her that she sees a car, her brother saw one before when he was about eight years old. The car was already there when they arrived but strangely enough there is no driver in sight and Al-Barack thinks they should immediately go back to the tribe to report this as this could be the beginning of trouble as their tribe still has an authentic way of life.

Funny, that's kind of what I've done with some of my more recent entries too... I've been keeping files in my Google drive for each entry / work I've done. I have a partial (and I mean PARTIAL) database from years ago that I have not kept up... oh well, too many freebies and not enough time! Now I'm curious as to what other experienced freebie hunters / collectors are doing to keep their collections usable.

I don't usually enter more than once, but I was so inspired by my trip to Costco and Home Depot on my day off. Except I planted tomatoes and flowers. Postwork in Photoshop to smooth out rough polygons (original in attachments).

I know, New England just doesn't have that same feel. My husband's mom lives near Peoria, IL and whenever we go out there and drive there from Chicago, you drive through this ultra flat, corn-filled land. It's unbelievably beautiful how big that sky is.

Yep! I used to live in Wichita, KS. You drive about 30 seconds beyond the city limits and suddenly you are surrounded by corn and wheat fields as far as the eye can see - which is practically forever since there really isn't anything there to block your view.

Janus, the ancient Roman god, is by definition, is the god of "new beginnings", gates, transitions, time, duality, doorways, passages, frames, final endings, and change. He is usually depicted with two faces. As the god of transition, the month of January (the beginning of the new year, changing from the old) is named for Janus. He presides over the beginning and the end of conflict, hence war and peace. Several of the god's rites, always performed by the high priest, were the beginning of the year, the beginning of the month, and the beginning of the day. All in all Janus is the perfect depiction of "New Beginnings".

Ok, that's fine with me, but the file can be downloaded. Instead of using the "here" link, use the one with the "file name" just before it. My browser doen't want me to have it but I can tell it to continue anyway (twice) and it will download. I just tried it again, and it does work, at least using Microsoft Edge, other browers, mileage may differ.

I'll move it to the other thread this evening.

Janus, the ancient Roman god, is by definition, is the god of "new beginnings", gates, transitions, time, duality, doorways, passages, frames, final endings, and change. He is usually depicted with two faces. As the god of transition, the month of January (the beginning of the new year, changing from the old) is named for Janus. He presides over the beginning and the end of conflict, hence war and peace. Several of the god's rites, always performed by the high priest, were the beginning of the year, the beginning of the month, and the beginning of the day. All in all Janus is the perfect depiction of "New Beginnings".

Thank you Sky77! I also love cherry blossoms, this is actually peach blossom but hey, who can tell the difference in a render? (I know I can't.) ; ) The character has a rounder face to better fit the left hand. I walked out, around here, and saw the beautiful blossoms and smelled the wonderful fragrance they give off and thought, yes... Spring is here! :D
