Indoor Lighting Issue

Hi, Whenever I render in any kind of sealed room (walls and ceiling) my renders are always quite a lot darkended no matter how i rotate the camera.

I use a lighting product which works very well in open space but even when I use a prop's own included lighting it is so dark and I don't really know what to do about it.

Anyone know ho to help?

Thanks

Assuming you're trying to render in Iray, the first thing I would do is go to the Tonemapping Settings pane and increase the "cm^2 Factor"

    That's great, thank you!

  • Start a new scene, set up some 3 point lighting around the 0, 0 center point, and save the scene.

When you start a new scene with characters, merge the 3 point lighting scene into the new scene.

Create a null object and put all 3 lights into the null. Name it 3 Point Lighting.

Put your main character at 0, 0.

Put the 3 Point Lighting null and your main character into a new null object.

Using the 3 Point Lighting null, you can now rotate it around your main character and use Y translate to move it up and down, and it'll always stay attached to your character no matter where you move it.

Good tutorial on setting up 3 point lighting a little bit down the page:
